Anyone been? Planning a 3 or 4 night stay in September and would appreciate any recommendations. Not planning on hiring a car. Is there enough stuff to do to fill 3 or 4 days in the city? We're fairly laid back and just enjoy the usual eating, drinking, mooching! Some kind of vineyard tour would be obviously good!
Couple of nights and you have done it,there isn't that much to do apart from mooch and eat and drink.
Loads of small hotels in town, all budgets.Go out to the expo park for Campanile etc ,tram into town. You can visit other areas very easily from Bordeaux,St Emilion,Medoc,Dune du Pyla etc by train, you could even do a day trip to Paris as the new TGV line opens in July getting you to Paris in 2hrs 5 minutes.

Recommend eating here, great wee place with very tasty food at decent price. The chef is a Scottish guy who I wish we had kept in Scotland.

Went to Darwin on Thursday so my daughter could do something for an art project, loads of grafiti by local artists, hip and trendy cafe with small organic shop attached. It was a pleasant hour wasted on my part.
Happy hour is everywhere in Bordeaux,Central pub in Gambetta 4.30-6.30,most draught 3.80 a pint, mojito for the ladies.Grimenberger Ambre is my favourite.Around Gambetta there is 3 or 4 happy hours at about the same time.
The Sherlock Homes does happy hour from 7 till 9 or there abouts but the beer is crap and the pub dirty.
Chartron is a nice little area to mooch around also has a decent English decent pub in the old market square, pretty good food as well.
