I had a Kidney out in January due to a Mass on it. Totally out no sign of Cancer anywhere else and now being checked for the next 10 years. My Wife had a Lump removed from the top of her leg and had to have radiation treatment which finished a few weeks ago. Her wound isn't the nicest thing to look at as the radiation broke it open again but it is healing. Prognosis is very good but again she will be scanned for at least the next 10 years. The problem is now that we are looking to go on Holiday in the summer, preferably a cruise to a far east or US destination. I have looked at insurance and mostly it's either very high or phone us. As I do not wish to waste time has anybody any recommendations for a good insurer in these circumstances?

We've used All Clear insurance, very helpful and willing to cover things a lot of insurers don't touch with barge pole. Not overly expensive either.

Things to consider;

A cheap holiday to Spain is far easier to buy cover for than an expensive trip to the US.

All insurers who write this style of travel policy run quotes through a matrix - computer says yes or no.

Location is a massive influence, the US is the most expensive option on the matrix. Cruises by nature are expensive, can be remote - ie distance from a good hospital, and therefore another expensive box.

I see the appeal of an exotic holiday / celebration after good news, but a closer break in a country with cheaper medical costs is easy to place.

My father - aged 75 managed to get a months cove in France for £250 after 10 weeks in hospital following Cardiac Arrest, the price for the US would have been significant multiple of this.

Good Luck

The only way you're going to manage it is by phoning I'm afraid. Every travel insurer has a medical screening line - well, in fact, the same company probably that they outsource to - and as soon as your answers fall outside of the box that's who you'll need to speak to.

They'll then decide whether they can cover you normally, at extra cost, with cover omitted - e.g. nothing related to the Cancer will be covered - or whether they'll just not cover you at all.

As already said, America has the most expensive medical costs and repatriation will cost. So it might be better to choose somewhere closer.

I'd work through this list - http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/copin... - which includes All Clear who have already been suggested.
