Indeed. In pretty much every casino the drinks served to people at the tables or slot machines by the cocktail waitresses will all be poured from an automated 'gun' so will be a standard size and strength.Manually poured drinks when you are playing video poker might be stronger if the barman thinks it will get them a better tip.
Also, the chap who runs the Vital Vegas blog/podcast claims that you never get the branded spirits in the free drinks. You'll order a Jack Daniels and Coke but get cooking bourbon and Rola Cola.
We went in 2017 , my first time there and first time in the states too !
Started of bad by getting ripped off at airport by taxi ( even though I had googled about it!) but that was the only issue. Note Uber is brilliant for getting about , first time using it and had no problems. I never had a data package for abroad on my phone though. So this meant any time ordering one I had to make sure and be on the locations wifi then peer over to the Uber line...!
We stayed at the Luxor which is impressive to look at but dated and plain inside. Was clean and tidy though and basically somewhere to sleep and shower. Had the Titanic exhibition and the Blue Man show , both recommended.
So much to see and do (we were there 12 days and maxxed the cards out, over budget by about day 4 lol, budget plenty!)so will simply list what we saw and did and would recommend.
In Vegas :
Fremont street.
Wynn hotel buffet.
Bellagio (fountains too)
Ceasars palace.
The volcano at the mirage.
New York New York.
Liberace garage.
The mob museum.
Springs preserve.
The neon museum.
The Venetian.
The high roller.
Linq hotel car museum (think closed down?)
KISS monster mini golf (yes really!)
Peppermill fireside lounge.
The Las Vegas sign !
Love (Beatles show by cirque du soleil at the mirage)
Outside Vegas.
Red rock canyon.
Zion National park.
Hoover dam.
Grand Canyon west & skywalk.
Sorry for no details or descriptions of the above , but all on tripadvisor etc , all the hotels you can wander into anytime obviously.
Note : be very aware of timeshare touts , especially in your hotel ! Very bad form imo , they look and dress and interact like your hotel staff , but don’t speak to them lol ! I think the better/newer hotels don’t allow them ?

Been far too many times, mostly on work shindigs but also a few hols over the years.
We stopped en route with teenage kids a few years back....stayed in the MGM Towers: back off the strip, a MASSIVE apartment for the price of a regular hotel room, worked well for us (small private pool, even had a laundrette, which given we were halfway through a month long US road trip, was very handy!). Aria is a classy hotel (iPad to control in the room!)
Beetles Love is a superb show....as was Criss Angel Mind Tricks magic one if still on....
A Sunday morning Segway trip round Boulder is a lovely antidote to the craziness of the strip....or a morning helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon for a little champagne brekky!
Lots of interesting bars....Delano has a skybar with a great view (even from the gents!!), Rio does (or did...many years ago!). Trip to Stratosphere for some crazy rides very high up. Bellagio fountains are spectacular.
Take a chilled bottle of water and be ready to do a lot of walking....everywhere on the strip looks so near, yet takes ages, mostly because of the crowds.
If you can, avoid the heat of summer.....spring or autumn would be my choices (not that I often had a choice!)
Most of all....you can’t do it all, enjoy what you do fit in!

This is a good tip , first day we thought the strip is just a street really... walked 12 miles , in flip flops.. lol. Uber is your cheap friend:-) and comfortable trainers. We stopped en route with teenage kids a few years back....stayed in the MGM Towers: back off the strip, a MASSIVE apartment for the price of a regular hotel room, worked well for us (small private pool, even had a laundrette, which given we were halfway through a month long US road trip, was very handy!). I went for the boxing in february, prepaid room-but they take a card impression for extra's and charged $800 when check out came "don't worry will be credited back to (debit) card in 3 days" which 3 months later I'm still trying to get back, just ignore emails....there's a few posts online from others about this..Oddly 8am on sunday morning after a fury night, heard lorries reversing, pneumatic drills basically for about 10 minutes-oddly on the 6th floor and looked outside and nothing to be seen-just wondered if it was a speaker wake up call....remember they have no clocks and want you up gambling !
Obviously will be avoiding this place in future...................top tip UBER not taxis

Went for a few days a could if March's ago.
Flew Virgin via Atlanta, stayed at the Belagio. Hired a Corvette Z06 and did breakfast in Boulder, Hoover Dam/Lake Mead National Park/Valley of Fire.
Was alone and predominently on business so nothing like as much fun as it should have been (didn't really do much of the Vegas thing), but everything was ace. Corvette around Lake Mead roads was something else. Like NC500 but warm with no traffic.
Flew Virgin via Atlanta, stayed at the Belagio. Hired a Corvette Z06 and did breakfast in Boulder, Hoover Dam/Lake Mead National Park/Valley of Fire.
Was alone and predominently on business so nothing like as much fun as it should have been (didn't really do much of the Vegas thing), but everything was ace. Corvette around Lake Mead roads was something else. Like NC500 but warm with no traffic.

I went through a car rental website, can't honestly remember which one! I picked the car up from Beverley Hills car rental on Dean Martin Drive, they had a fair mix of exotica in there and it's literally 10 mins walk from the Strip. Were really nice people with me. blingybongy said:

Not me. Felt very safe and clean. Fremont st is more rowdy but perfectly safe , plenty police and security about. king toilet then?There is a lot of homeless/ beggars about which i was surprised at , didn’t realise the extent of the problem they have. Never had any issues mind.

We were however there for 7 nights over NY 19/20 in the Signature (my son lives in LV - needed to see him) and tbh felt totally safe etc ... nothing wrong at all and still did some day trips out
As others have said, Freemont st is dodgy to say the least ... I'd avoid personally
I haven't seen these mentioned yet, we have stayed at The Tropicana, actually quite nice if you get a superior room, massive parking area with no hassle and no pushy valet guy wanting a tip. And unless you're a massive doughnut scoffing American who has to be within falling distance of the strip it's a 5 minute walk away. More of an old Vegas feel, we liked it.
We also stayed at Planet Hollywood in a fountain view room, great room and great service, also quite a bit more expensive than The Tropicana, but you can eat until you resemble a doughnut scoffing American and fall onto the strip.
You have to see Freemont Street once, we saw so many weirdos wandering around there it was like being in some weird film, I'll echo what someone said about the booze, we left there totally trollied
Valley of Fire is okay, but will only take you half an hour to drive through.
Helicopter ride of the GC was very special.
Have some pictures, we're off there again in April next year but only for a few days as we're flying in and out of Vegas to go somewhere nicer
