There's also plenty of independent bars and restaurants Downtown or off-Strip that just charge 'normal' prices that you'd see in any other big city.
Any recommendations for restaurants off-strip? We're there in the summer and I'm starting to worry how expensive it'll be to eat (going with teenagers).

Also, I don't use Uber (I wasn't intending on getting an esim as don't really need data there beyond hotel wifi) so assuming we'll need to use taxis but wasn't sure how to get back from places as you can't hail them?

In N Out burgers is decent for fast food. Think Five Guys, but cheaper and slightly lower quality.

Mid week look up dining deals at the casinos. The Silverton did 2 for 1 mid week if you join their players club so a top end steak dinner in a nice setting for £50, other grill items obviously less.

That's the problem with taxis, you can't even telephone for one if you haven't got roaming. So you are pretty much stuck unless you pay for an eSim or (as I do) pay for a month of roaming from your UK phone company.

For off strip dining, if you want fancy stuff the best site to check is => http://www.eatinglv.com/ (which is also big on talking up the Chinatown district)

There plenty of good breweries in the Arts District between the Strip and Downtown (no use if you have kids).

The row of restaurants on 'East Fremont' between the canopy and El Cortez are interesting, there's a few decent places a block over as well.

Fully off-Strip, and only worth it if you have a rental car, if you head to the nicer suburbs such as Summerlin or Green Valley there's plenty of choice.

For cheaper food near Strip, stroll over to Ellis Island (as previously mentioned) or Tuscany a couple of minutes down Flamingo Ave - both are old school casinos that still offer cheap food to encourage people into building in the hope they spend money gambling.

If you head south down LV Boulevard past the outlet mall there is the South Point casino which similar has good value food at various quality levels - including a buffet which is getting rare these days.

you should get uber, there's really no other way if venturing to 'less frequented' places. and make sure you take hats and sunscreen as summer will be a bit toasty!! with 2 teenagers, buffets could be the way to go if they eat loads. one of them a day will fill them up surely.

Thanks all. One of my boys does have worldwide roaming in his plan so maybe we will set up Uber either on his or mine and I tether to it (rather not leave it to a teenager to control this!).

I've toyed with getting a car but after paying for the car and paying for parking and fuel it seems like may be more trouble than it's worth. Will do a coach daytrip to Grand Canyon South rim as don't fancy driving that.

from memory EE will charge you £7.50 for the month to be able to use your phone as you would in the UK...

Yes, I think it was a tenner when we were with EE. Others in family are on O2 and US roaming is a rip off. It's £6 a day if you're not on one of their expensive plans.

I'm just on giffgaff these days so eSIM is the only option really - something I know nothing about!

Plenty of decent value eating on the strip.

Good wood fired pizza at Grimaldi, near the Wynn.
La la noodle in Park MGM
Bavette's in park mgm for steak
Diablo's cantina for Mexican (mirage and luxor)
Flights las vegas (miracle mile shops)
Cabo Wabo cantina (miracle mile shops)

He'll, there's even a cheesecake factory in the forum shops!

All of those (except bavettes) will run you the same per head as burgers fries and a drink at the fast food places in aria/bellagio/Ceasars

We're staying at Paris. Nothing fancy to be honest (2 teenage sons!), decent American food is fine with us and perfectly happy with steaks, italian, Asian etc.

You're close to the "miracle mile" shopping area. Lots of cheap fast food style stuff there to fill them up when necessary.
There's a breakfast joint in there "ocean one bar and grill" that gets good reviews, and cheap.
Some very reasonable eating spots at NYNY. not too far away, including a traditional American style diner that's open 24/7 iirc.
There's typical mainstream fast food like taco bell, McDonald's and the like just north of you too.

For more upscale than just fast food, you've got pf Chang nearby, rainforest Cafe (if you have a birthday in the month you're there, sign up for the loyalty card, costs $25 but you get $25 off, plus another $25 in your birthday month), cheesecake factory as mentioned, NYNY has "nine fine irishmen", a decent pub grub type place.
All of those would run between $30-$40 per person, ish.

We find that we generally only eat two decent meals a day in Vegas. Snacks in between. "ABC stores", Walgreens and CVS are good spots for snack food. The CVS across the street from Paris has a good sandwich selection, surprisingly.
Top tip for vegas- strip hotels don't generally include a fridge you can use. Take a collapsible bucket or get a polystyrene cooler in CVS or Walgreens. Fill with ice for your own in room cooler. Hotel waters are silly expensive.

Forgot to mention, there's also a hard rock Cafe south of Paris too.

Cheers - Yes, I'd clocked the lack of fridges so that's a good idea about a cooler. We're not big drinkers but was thinking about getting some beers for the room so that sounds like a plan.

We seem to end up in a Hard Rock Cafe in all the US cities we go to so that's another one for the list. I hope it's cheaper than the Canada Niagara one which was ridiculous!

It's about $25-$35 for a main, but has happy hour specials too, I think. It's smaller than a usual HRC.
Gordon Ramsay Burger is close to Paris, might be worth a shot. About the same price range.
For teens, there's midway type games at Excalibur (in basement), and MGM grand has arcade type stuff too. Mgm grand has a decent fast food court too, for cheap eats.

To reiterate a couple of earlier posts, Penn and Teller at the Rio is brilliant if that’s your sort of thing.

Having done the Grand Canyon in both a Cessna and a Helicopter, I would take the chopper anytime. We took the early morning slot and had breakfast and mimosas when we landed in the canyon. We then proceeded to buzz down the canyon banking round the corners with the Airwolf theme tune playing. It was absolutely fking epic.

House of Blues in Mandalay Bay is great for some food and music. The waitress gave us passes for the Foundations Bar at the top of Mandalay Bay which has superb views down the strip.

The restaurant at the top of the Strat is a great place for lunch. The menu is a lot more reasonable, amazing views again, food was really good when we went, and it’s a nice hour or two being away from the chaos. Evening menu is quite a bit more expensive and it’s not the sort of area you want to be wondering round at night.

If you hire a car or don’t mind a taxi ride out of town then try John Mulls Roadkill Grill. The best BBQ food I’ve ever had, hardly any tourists, just a great experience meeting locals who don’t want to be involved in the chaos of the strip.

Pleasure Pit in Planet Hollywood has a great atmosphere for a night out, we ended up drinking with some crazy Texans and it wasn’t ridiculous money for drinks.

I don’t tend to do clubs, because I hate being done over in drinks prices (I don’t drink much anyway) and I’d much prefer having a few drinks with a view chatting to some new people, so I can’t offer any advice on clubs.

Flying to Vegas in 6 hours(not that I'm counting it down!).

Appreciate all the restaurants suggestions in here. I don't mind paying but want the quality to match. Sadly cocked that up last night in LA but that's another story.

We're at the Belagio so anything around there an interest. Also wouldn't mind trying a man v food style restaurant if any suggestions? Seems very Vegas.

We don't mind and can walk, although are feeling a bit battered after 25k steps a day around LA!

Go to jaleo in cosmo. Very decent tapas. Don't order the chicken and mushroom paella, too salty.

Guy fieri has a restaurant across the street from the bellagio.

For big portions, there's the "famous" heart attack grill downtown.

Hash house a gogo is a mix of stuff, huge portions. Peppermill restaurant is similar, better quality and value but is at the extreme end if the strip, beyond the Wynn.

ETA Aria food hall, upstairs. Lots of options there of that style grub too
