If you hire a car or don’t mind a taxi ride out of town then try John Mulls Roadkill Grill. The best BBQ food I’ve ever had, hardly any tourists, just a great experience meeting locals who don’t want to be involved in the chaos of the strip.
I'm very tempted by this place, would be a 25 minute taxi it seems.Am I daft to consider it only being here 3 nights or are there better options closer?
Talking of Guy Fieri and John Mull..... That BBQ joint was created just to appear on the Diners, Drive-ins and Dives TV show. The producers were looking for a BBQ restaurant in Vegas to feature but couldn't find anything so spoke to John Mull who was a local meat wholesaler to see if he knew of anywhere suitable and they ended up starting up a restaurant themselves.

Las Vegas Raiders are playing so will be going there on day 3. Then either Shania Twain residency or Penn and Teller (or both) depending on what the missus picks.
Read through the last 5 pages and disappointing to see mantis saying its on the turn. I went pre-covid with the lads and thought it was brilliant. I don't want to get ripped off though is my only worry, happy to pay over the odds for things because 'Vegas' but if its £70 main meals at mid-range restaurants I just won't enjoy it. We are stopping at the Linq as we stopped at the MGM last time and agree the older hotels are getting tired.
Any tips/changes to the following (details to be locked down, rough guide atm)
House of Blues: Mandalay Bay - is this a day drink place or evening cocktail type?
Breakfast recs? At the moment we have eggslut and hashagogo.
Gondola ride @ Venetian: worth it? Seems a con to me.

I've not been for a while but it has changed post covid for sure. Not necessarily for the worse, but certainly a bit pricier. Las Vegas Raiders are playing so will be going there on day 3. Then either Shania Twain residency or Penn and Teller (or both) depending on what the missus picks.

This may be a bit "Gen Z" or whatever (I lose track!) but there's a really good person on social media, Vegas Starfish, that posts loads of really helpful videos on where's good. She's got a YouTube channel but I tend to see most of her stuff on TikTok. She's a resident and not affiliated with any of the properties of companies, purely independent but her videos cover both ends of the spectrum so she'll post about where's really good value to go to eat/stay but also where's worth the money at the top end.
I'm planning to go back next year and have found her content very well balanced, perhaps worth a look along with any recommendations you get on here as she'll often have the most up-to-date stuff on there and certain things you need to spend a lot of time in the city to know about.
(as for the shows, I saw Penn & Teller when I went and it was incredible. I've been a fan of theirs since I was a kid and they had a show on Channel 4 and it did not disappoint. I also saw Teller speak after the show in the lobby and it blew my mind

I say a lot of things not all 100% accurate...

Still it is great, just nit as great maybe, you cannot fail to have a good time, just seemed a bit more tired and far less value than previous for obvious reasons and some places just a bit not what they were and generally a bit worse people wise . In fairness most of the time you won't notice but think we specifically looked out for it as it was a trip we built up to for a long time so were fussier than normal. It will be great for you if a bit hot!
HoB can't remember but MB is quiet quiet inside in the day mostly unless a conference on at least in fall or spring from my times there.

Staying at the linq? Good central spot. Plenty of normal level food joints within easy walking distance. Breakfast places in Miracle mile shops just south of the Linq. Penn & Teller do autographs and selfies after the show if you like that sort of thing. Plenty if time for everyone.
HOB is an evening lounge type thing rather than day drinking.
Gondola ride is a bit kitschy

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say he's probably not on a comp. At full price, both of those are pricey. Good food, but unless you want to have 2 hour lunch, might not be "worth it"What's your missus into? Lots of entertainment options these days.

problem i have is typically too hungover/jetlagged to do them justice and get the value
Ironically, I'd recommend the lower tier properties as good value buffets for breakfast- luxor and excalibur.
Most of the lunch/dinner ones aren't great these days unfortunately. Bar the Wynn, but that's silly money.
I get comped half price buffets with mgm, and even the bellagio buffet isn't worth it.

Not wishing to be contrary but completey disagree re brunch. Think the 'lower tier' ones are crap and false economy. Caveat that with I haven't tried a 'lower tier' one since well before covid. Think mgm grand was last non cosmo/casars/stevie wynn I tried and the buffet which was grim more like the UK cosmo buffets that at least used to exist in some delightful places. Most of the lunch/dinner ones aren't great these days unfortunately. Never tried bellagio brunch tbf don't like the casino generally so never spent much time in it!
Agree that buffet makes little sense other than brunch.
I’m in vegas at the moment. My only recommendation would be the piano bar at New York New York, quality night out! Fremont streets good for nightlife action.
We fly home tomorrow if Virgin don’t f
k our flights up again. Our direct flight from Manchester was cancelled on the way out so we had to get a taxi from Manchester to Heathrow then a flight to JFK then onto Vegas. Took me 26 hours door to door. 2 of the lads with us missed the connector and were stuck in New York overnight, took them 41 hours to get here!

Virgin certainly seem to be having some issues with that flight in the past couple of weeks. Anyone know the reasons? Is it somewhat empty so they are binning it off and routing people on their other flights (hoping they are just annoying infrequent holiday travelers and not regular business passengers) or any they short of planes/pilots?Abc321 said:

All we were told was that the flights are being cancelled for ‘operational’ reasons. I pity the folk who’ve booked on it in the future as they’ll have the same problems as us! Virgin don’t cancel the flights until 2 days before.
