I've spent quite a lot of time in Kandahar but I'd never have guessed it was there.

It was a massive place, equivalent to 4th busiest airport in the UK at one point I believe. There was loads of 'towns' that I used to find when I was on duty driver I never knew where there. Probably loads more I never saw.

It was a nature reserve in the middle of Khandahar airfield, there were rumours that an American or could have been Latvian (nationality was never fully confirmed) tried to swim across it uke: to go home early. Made him very ill, he went home and when he was recovered thay sent him back to finish his tour.

I assume it is some sort of art installation, looks abandoned but those ropes have been deliberately put like that and wouldn't just fall that way.

Yes, an art installation, but a bit further North (and West) than Yorkshire
