What a cracking day!

Out for almost seven hours….far too slushy lower down, but the top of La Plagne was decent biggrin

I will depart to Austria for a final ski of the season. It's 18 degrees in the valley today, barely above zero at night though. That makes for very nice conditions above a certain level smile

Heading out this Friday to Alp D’huez (well Auris).

Not looking good on the webcams and it’s 15 degrees! I just hope the cold weather forecast for next week brings some snow with it

Forecast does look like dipping at the weekend…but in the meantime, Arcs2000 was fine for us earlier.

& another generous top up for Tim’s pension again biggrin

Hope you get some cold weather!

A fair few years ago (and apologies as this isn't going to help!!) when we skied at Alp D'huez the day we left it was scorchio and i've really not seen the conditions worsen so quickly and literally in front of your eyes before or since. Literally rivers of water coming off the slopes at resort level and an absolute slushfest. I was glad I was stepping onto a bus away from resort as we had a fantastic week skiing whilst we were there.

Hope you get a chance to enjoy the black run from the top of Pic Blanc - a wonderful way to spend a morning!!

I really don’t understand why you guys book the flights so early. They always have sales throughout the year and an example is I’m going tomorrow for a week from Manchester to Grenoble for £300 (FOR 4 PEOPLE!). Booked it around 2 months back.

I don’t think I’ve ever paid more than £200 per person and I’ve gone twice a year pretty much for the past 20 years of which 12 of these have been in school holidays.

And of course £280 ish out of half term

It's school term time, Grenoble isn't a great airport and Manchester has lots of people and lots of flights. =cheaper

If you have to plan 6months+ in advance and you can't take your kids out of school, then you are at the mercy of the market.

Tues to Tues Luton to Geneva return in the middle of January is currently £76 total. For 1350 miles of flying.
Which is insanely cheap.
A single ticket from Newcastle to King's Cross is about £70

Same dates (presuming 7 nights stay) with Easyjet are now £220 for 2 adults and a child, BUT from Luton.

So you could spend £1000 getting to Luton.
Or spend £100 getting to Luton and save yourself £900?
I'll drive you there for £200.

scotland (well edinburgh) has a different half term to england. we’re 8/9th to 15/16th of feb, which i think is a week earlier than english half term. also £370 of my cost was for 3x hold luggage + 2x skis!

I know im doing it the most expensive way, but it’s a first family trip, plus first half term, so happy to pay a premium for convenience. plus what im paying for flights/ accommodation/ hire car is still cheaper than crystal were for a package deal!

Schools don't break up until Thurs. 28th where I am, but ignoring that there's a huge difference between Easter and Feb Half Term demand and so prices. A lot of families won't consider Christmas/New Year ("Too early to be snow sure" or "Need to see extended family") or consider Easter ("Too late to be snow sure") so will only/always go Feb Half Term (3 out of the last 4 of which have been hotter and less snowie than their preceeding Decembers).
