Harry - do you have threaded inserts in those White Dots ?

I've got a mildly bad ski buying habit, but if I could save on bindings, it might just get worse.....

I've been semi contemplating the Quiver Killer ones from the Piste Office.
Yup. Quiver Killers, and Marker Jester Pro bindings with various brakes.

My old pair of Preachers are many times re-drilled (I had them before going to Quiver Killers) hence replacement, and the bindings are shot. Hence the "necessary" purchase of the Lines. They will have the new Tyrolia Protector bindings on them, as I want to try these, having busted an ACL before. They are currently being fitted in Morzine, and having a DPS Phantom base treatment done - pick them up to borrow evening to ski on Tuesday. Excited.

Just arrived in Andorra, been snowing all day and still at it, weather supposed to clear tomorrow for first day on slopes. Just need to keep a lid on it tonight…
Whereabouts are you ?

I live in El Tarter - should be a good last week of the season smile
Pas de las casa, first time in Andorra for me first skiing holiday for my lad. I think we’ve really lucked out with the weather.

Thanks - that may be a summer purchase when I'm in the UK and get them onto my existing skis before next winter. I may even venture as far as installing my own....

If I see any skis worth buying in the sales, that could swing from a 'may' to a 'definitely' smile

I installed them myself - it's an easy DIY job if you have a pillar drill mount. I wouldn't do it freehand...but it is possible!

Definitely - could be up there as one of the better weeks we've had this season. It should finish snowing tonight & then the sun is out.

I'm on 94 days and there are 7 left, so, barring injury, I'll be breaking the ton smile

Thanks - I was wavering between a pillar mount for my regular drill or one of the aluminium blocks that they sell

I’m too lazy, hence atomic shift bindings on all my skis. I should just get quiver killers and save myself an insane cost as they are seriously expensive bindings.

Slushy down low…not too bad at the top near Grizly etc.

We have this week left, & will likely potter about for the first 2-3 hours of the day then relax and remember we are on holiday….went to head over to 2000 this morning only to find lifts closed due to high winds (& it was unpleasantly windy on a couple of lifts & up high….)
In theory, some snow due overnight…..but they said that over the weekend, with none seen.
Have fun!!

I've been looking at the Cast system which works with Look bindings. Maybe worth a shot?

I considered that too but didn’t like the idea of having to carry two different front bindings with me. I think the cast system is really good though for people who are say 70+% resort - the shift binding is more a 50/50 binding. Would have considered cast though if I was a loon binding person smile

The shifts are a little sensitive to ice and things and need the front afd adjusted right to avoid chances of early release but I’ve never had an issue with them. Brilliant things imho.

Now that I have small children, I basically don't use my touring setup. Everything is lift served.

QKs are great, but as I ski backwards a lot, slowly, teaching the kids, and also like doing little tricks when not with the kids, I wanted a binding designed to protect me from slowish, twisting backward falls - the classic ACL buster (and how i did it off a rail in the park before), its easy to do when skiing around backwards, slowly, and/or lifting a child. Hence the Tyrolia Protectors - they have a true heel release, rather than the heel rotating plate that helps toe lateral release, as seen on Look Pivots, which I also have on some of my skis, and Lady F favours. Sadly, many of my older skis are drilled for Jesters/Look, but as I replace skis, I will drill them with QKs for the Protectors, if they prove to be any good.

In other news, for the non ski nerds and folk who just like want to know how it is out here, been raining heavily here in Montriond, Portes du Soleil, for hours, overnight. Let's see what today brings up on the hill - could be a very lazy day! Hot tub and book?

I hate skiing in the rain.

I got my Lines cheaply on the continent and had them shipped to a friend in France - he used an EU credit card and i paid him back. They were waiting for me at the chalet when we got in yesterday. smile

Still available. This is the very site I used - shipped in days. These were under £300 for the 184cm length 2024 version, shipped, by the time I applied the discount code...

Our place looks up towards Avoriaz. The rain has stopped, they've been blasting since 6am (yay!) and I reckon the new snow line is 1600m. Looks a bit misty up there, but it will clear.
Put the budgie smugglers away.

That's a tempting price - if I don't find anything in the shops this week, they could be a summer purchase.

I've bought Blizzard Bonafide & Head eRally's at the end of last season, then some Faction Dancers earlier this season as my wife loves hers, so I still have a reason to buy something wider as 97 is the fattest I have smile and narrower as my Salomons are nearly dead.

Yes sir! Gone skiing.

ETA. If you see a brown fella wearing a grey camo jacket, flopping around on a knackered, stickered up pair of Whitedot Preachers, come and say hi/pick me up out of the snow.

Yup…..a decent inches overnight, beautiful scene…early lift, got us out to make fresh tracks down here:

Good fun!
Then a late morning coffee…then the sky changed and we went back up to the top to head over to 1800, only to hit ferocious winds & appalling visibility!
At one point I gently snowploughed past a boarder, who was carrying their board and gently holding a skier as they tried to trudge down!

But a fabulous day!!
