You lucky thing, skiing in the morning and then picking a nice restaurant to adjourn to for the afternoon once it slushes up!
Exactly. It's April skiing. This is what it's all about.

Unfortunately at least half of the restaurants seem to be closed. I’m guessing they’ve decided it’s too late in the season to bother.

That's normal too for the last week (ish) of the season. I'm currently in Samoens for their last week and it's similar here, but I really like getting the first lift, getting the best of the conditions (when it will usually be very quiet), and then stopping at lunch time. Still plenty of options.

So far the family are loving skiing.

Obergurgl is a lovely place and reasonably quiet.

Being beginners and completely inexperienced. One thing we were not prepared for was the weather being so warm. First day on Saturday was 21° then late teens yesterday and 13°ish today. We are kitted out for it being freezing and below. I have never sweat so much in my life.

The highest slopes are still in reasonably good shape but the lower slopes and close to village are slush in the afternoon.

The temperature is dropping for the rest of the week with some snow predicted for Wednesday.

That would explain it! Where did that info come from?
My chalet peeps. I suspect they’re well informed.

Eclipse shmeclipse. Stopped skiing at the allotted time to take a photo - there was a wee chunk bitten out of the sun, but the camera didn’t pick it up. Cold day though with decent snow and hardly anyone out.

Was taking another pic later and another skier offered to take a pic of me. Not sure I have too many as I usually ski solo. So…here’s a pensioner on piste wavey

Not too many ski days left this year now frown

Off to Tignes on Thursday for a few days with my son to catch the end of the Easter holiday. Weather still looking promising with some high up snow forecast, then warming up for a sunny weekend of spring skiing at altitude, (we will have to see if my 12 yr old lives up to his promise of getting up early).

I'm usually a December/January skier, I'm hoping that this late week becomes a regular trip as well as for me its worked out to be quite a good value trip, and have been able to get a good choice of acommodation. It seems over the last few years that the higher resorts have had some decent snowfall for Easter. Though you can see from the pictures and reports back from returning friends there's been a lot of green patches and rain at lower down resorts though.

I can see that its been a real struggle for some of these resorts this season, and more pressure on higher resorts as a result. however I can see one of my faves (Les Gets/Morzine) has still had some pretty decent skiing right up to their last week, I think its the early season and Feb period where you'd normally expect it to be colder/less rainy, with a much higher snow line that is making it very difficult.

Didn’t get hugely high today because I had the children with me. Was very sticky, and I think the top got shut anyway due to the wind.
Tuesday snow report. Lunchtime.
Looks utterly dreadful in town. Rain washing everything away.
Go up. Toura snow pretty good, visability acceptable. Beer in the panobar overpriced but tasty.

Kid did well.

Oh dear. Hope that are not too hurt.

Conditions were a bit challenging today. I went out a bit later - the slopes where I am were empty, with poor visibility, and still snowing, which is quite the change from yesterday when it was weather in the town was barmy. Still, lots of new snow, so we found some nice skiing.

Standard knee twist. Nothing broken/displaced. Ligament damage. Couple of days off.

Poor kid is a mite upset.

Sorry ro see that; poor little guy.

Do check it's just a sprain, and not a more significant tear. I've done an ACL reconstruction myself, having thought it was sprained. It wasn't, i delayed, and that made the process a bit more annoying than it could have been.

When are you back in the UK and what is your local city?
I can help with knee specialists.
Hope he's OK.
Don't believe the local doctors, in my experience they are correct about 50% (only) of the time about soft tissue knee injuries.

Absolutely. I was diagnosed as a sprain locally in France when I snapped my ACL.

Took a second opinion when I got home some time later, and surgery was needed.

Hugely appreciated. Will respond privately for reasons.
