Left a very cold, very rainy Bristol airport this afternoon to land, an hour late, at a clear, balmy 21 degrees Caleta de Fuste,Fuerteventura. A meal of a king prawn skewer, a proper ice cream and a bottle of caramel vodka in hand and I know where I would rather be.
The resort is quiet (though many close on Mondays and a lot of flights arrive on Wednesdays) but the flight over was good, largely a more mature clientele at this time of year so not a single issue. Apartment is nice too. Looking forward to the sun tomorrow.

A Michelin star has been newly awarded to the restaurant '1973' inside the very opulent 5-star Villa Cortes hotel on Playa De Las Americas.

Restaurants in the middle in the evening we thought were a bit overpriced. The resort is quiet (though many close on Mondays and a lot of flights arrive on Wednesdays) but the flight over was good, largely a more mature clientele at this time of year so not a single issue. The restaurant up the top called Beach Club Chiringuito La Isla was a nice bit of seafood and cocktails. We stayed in a villa near the golf course so was our local.

As it turned out, the bar we use has been much busier than it has been, in past times, though some of the drinks have gone up. Good to see the tourists back despite 4 days of overcast skies (Locals welcome it, saying it's been way too hot) and the forecast for the next 4 days is sun but we shall see.

Teresitas beach was on full send today (for a December). One of the beach bars serves Tostada on draught so we filled our boots. It could hit 30c in the North West on Saturday, the forecast looks pretty epic.

It was overpriced 5/6 years ago when we went. Stayed in the Barcelo on the corner (which was genuinely lovely, but the Royal Level is now adults only), but the restaurants were all away from the shore (unlike many Canarian resorts where you can get a genuine sea view), yet charging quite a bit more than we were used to paying in Playa Blanca.LuS1fer said:
Prices all went up after COVID and never came down and portions are smaller but there has been a lot of inflation. I find the Chinese-owned places serve the worst food and tap the tax on top of the advertised price so a crappish meal at the "British Corner" (my ass*) worked out at 1 Euro less than the Fado Rock which had far better food. In general, Puerto del Carmen in Lanzarote was vastly more stylish and had better food but you have to put up with the idiots trying to get you inside.

"Best" meal we had was in the cafe place when we went down to Pozo Negro one evening after a recommendation from someone! As it turned out, the bar we use has been much busier than it has been, in past times, though some of the drinks have gone up. Tapas was better than the frozen stuff sold in town.
Just back from a week in Costa Adeje, Tenerife - lovely to get a bit of sun; sea was warmer than I expected - some good snorkelling.
Used the VIP lounge at Tenerife South Airport - jeez - what an total dump! Massively over crowded, with folk also queuing to get in. Utterly disgusting, inedible tepid food, not enough glasses and cutlery - they whole place was dirty; toilets were rank. If you are considering booking - don't bother!

It's been rather grey in Caleta de Fuste yet again though we did find the blue sky and sun up near Corralejo. Hire cars are invaluable.
I found it was more hard work to get across FV than LV but definitely invaluable to have a car.We never used the CDF beaches either, we drove about to Sotavento end, El Cotillo, Dunes of Corrajelo etc.

Cold and damp.....and grey here in the UK.
Headed to Tenerife tomorrow for 5 weeks. Hope I haven't missed the current hot spell.
heat wave ended in most places when the calima arrived.Headed to Tenerife tomorrow for 5 weeks. Hope I haven't missed the current hot spell.
calima has gone but location is going to play heavy so be prepared to travel.
E.g Puerto De La Cruz looks banging for tomorrow and is probably the place to be.

Exactly what we do. Playa de la Barca, Morro Jable, El Cotillo, Corralejo dunes, Ajuy. Because of the new road, the travel time, north and south is about the same.
