We stayed at Voco on the palm last week. Superb hotel, couldn’t fault a single thing.
The view from our balcony was incredible, the location was also perfect.

Stayed @ Fairmont the Palm in November. Was excellent, and right at the front of the Palm, so no 4 hour drive to get to the end.
To get to Mall area took 20 mins at best and 1 hour at worst, very traffic dependent. However, there is the monorail which is an option and obviously not traffic dependent.

Hotel itself was excellent, particularly enjoyed the breakfast, easy access to beach, great swimming pools etc.
Thanks - that sounds really good

Anybody have any views about Rixos The Palm - prices for mid September are approx £2k per person for mid-September.
Some friends managed to book Atlantis The Royal for that sort of budget in September. I stayed there in December and the place is unreal, probabaly one of the best hotels I've ever visited.

Any time.

Re. La Mer, the whole beach community of restaurants and bars has been bulldozed. Don’t stay there.

Oops - sorry, did not know that.

Usually stay at the Madinat, the added benefit being all the hotels up to the JBR are in the same meal programme if you go half board.

I have stayed at the Fairmont too, whilst it is nice, it's not a patch on many other hotels in Dubai. The quality is lower, the restaurants, particularly the buffet, is not so comprehensive and the sand on the beach, more coarse.

Fair enough, I don't have much experience over there in the high end hotels to be honest!

I live in Dubai and I’ve stayed in most of the main hotels.

For my money the best hotel in the Westin Mina Sehayi.

It shares facilities with 3 other hotels, nice beach, walkable to JBR and Marina.

It’s probably out of the OPs price range but thought I would share it for future visitors to the thread.

Just had a look on Emirates Holidays and it looks reasonable tbh (£1500 each for a week in September). However it doesnt look like it's on the beach?

It’s a good shout. It is on the beach, and the pool area is large and shared with the meridien next door and hotel the other side. There’s an adult only pool, loads of food options by the pool and also a load of restaurants inside… I live at the north end of the Marina and frequent the pool. Private beach etc. can recommend.

Great Saturday brunch, too. Just to clarify, it’s the one just north of the Marina/JBR - which is walkable in a few minutes. Close to the base of the palm, too - 10 mins to Palm west in a taxi.

I always stay at LRM.

The beach location and proximity to JBR is excellent and the service unsurpassed.

Friday brunch is exceptional but please take a tower or club room as it includes pre dinner drinks and afternoon snacks which are great value.

Been going since it and the Jumeirah Beach were pretty much the only places in town.

The choice of 5 star hotels now is probably the best in the world.

Why I like the Westin.

The rooms are nice.
The pools are nice including acults only pools area.
The beach area is huge and lots of facilities shared with Le Meridian and W hotel.
The buffet restaurant Minas Kitchen is awesome and the fish restaurant in the beach.
10 minute walk to Marina, 20 minutes to JBR.
There is an included water park for kids which is quite good.

This whole area is 20-30 minutes away from downtown but I would prefer to stay there if I was on holiday.

Another one for future passers by is JA Palm Tree Court. It’s an epic mission there, but brilliant for a resort style family holiday if you only want to taxi into town a few times. They also share facilities with the next door hotel which is lovely.

We used to do a week there and a week at the WestIn for balance.

We did it somewhat differently when we stayed in Dubai for a week by staying near the Creek at the Hyatt on Baniyas Square. Main benefit was that it was very close to the metro, which made getting places very easy.
