We need to renewal our travel insurance, last year £110, this year £150 with LV. We need to have Cruise cover and an annual policy, Admiral are the first of the big names and £70 for the year for 2 of us, it looks similar if not slightly higher in terms of maximum payout of 20million as apposed to 10million with LV.

The only slight complication is we set off on a short cruise on the 10th May and our policy renews on the 11th May.

Look at opening a flex plus account with Nationwide for £13 / month.

It works out more expensive though, plus it’s £40 extra for cruise cover. We don’t need the breakdown cover either. We have claimed with Nationwide many years ago though and they were good.

The date overlap is not an issue. You could still start the new policy a day earlier if you switch anyway.

Have a look at the aggregators without forgetting to go through a cashback site first, either Topcashback or Quidco.

Whoever you choose try and find out who the assistance company is. They're the ones who are critical when you really need help, mostly on the medical front.

We have annual global cover and it renews whilst we are away. I've checked with the insurer and there are no issues with this - they don't treat it as taking out insurance whilst away (which would be invalid). £70 sounds lovely and cheap. She has Lupus and I am on blood pressure medication, £360 a year for the pair of us, but that is specialist and includes breaks up to 90 days, and most other policies cap at 30, 45, or 60 days, none of which are enough for us over winter.
