I need to say sorry in style, so any suggestions welcome. Must have a good spa, not just be a hotel. Needs to be driveable in a weekend from London. Looking at Babington House (amazing, but a long way away and very expensive) and Rushton Hall (recommended by a friend). Anything else in striking distance that anyone knows about?

Any help appreciated.

Henlow Grange always used to be good. Just north of Hitchin in Herts.

ETS - there's a good drinking house nearby too.

Was going to suggest this also.

I hear they are doing some rather good deals at present.

Although friends have just spent 3 nights at Babington House and thought it was v good.

No...

I figure if I pull the stops out with this as a surprise, I get a great weekend away with a hot girl who is great in bed.

Also, I need a bloody break. Every holiday I have had since August has been mental and a long weekend loafing about a spa dressed in a bathrobe for most of the time sounds like heaven.

The Grove near Watford, off J19 of the M25.

www.thegrove.co.uk

Has an excellent spa, top notch golf course, superb restaurant called Collette's (3 actually but the lower 2 aren't really for spoiling someone) with excellent wine cellar, and the staff know how to look after you.

Rooms are superb and can cover all budgets plus a sofa for two in front of a roaring fire with brandy and coffee after an excellent meal scores points in the right area wink

Babington isnt that far from London, I just think it has gone a bit downhill recently. Used to go there regularly, but have stopped now.

Getting quite a few eMails from them at the moment with special offers, might not be as expensive as you think.

Down the road from me, many good stories about that place. Its also good if you have a drink problem, both George Best and Gazza stayed there when trying to stop drinking, think Gazza is doing ok this time

Bugger - I meant Christchurch. That'll teach me to try to work and post at the same time...
