added bonus that the castle was also the set of some prominant films...

Hammer House used it alot, and more importantly - Frank N Furter's castle...

so you'll both be quite at home running round in your undies smile
Was a little underwhelmed by this place, tbh.

Rowhill Grange, Kent - very nice place, stayed a few times there.
My wife likes the Spa there.
It is not as good as it was, looking a little tired, last time I was there the towels were damp and the therapist smelt of stale smoke.
Was that recently though Zen?

Actually, I know it as it's very near my parents' house, and I agree with you.

Want something pretty special.

It may have to be Babington House after all - spectacular (modern) decor and a great spa...

Stoke Park is very nice ( http://www.stokeparkclub.com ) and not much of a drive from the smoke, although some of the rooms can be a bit on the small side, go large for the suite and you can give it the full Hugh Grant in Bridget Jones whilst outside you get to release your inner Bond as it's where they filmed the golfing bit in Goldfinger. Agree on Oakley Court being a bit average and doubtful special enough. A bit further afield heading south, but still not an epic drive you can stay at Goodwood Park Hotel, it has been taken "in house" by Lord March and is very nice place to stay http://www.goodwood.co.uk/site/content/hotel/Defau...

Pennyhill Park ticked all my boxes. Got a good restaurant there too now.

I can't really recommend Oakley Court. It's OK, got the river view, but not great.

A few friends of mine have been to Cowley Manor - near Cheltenham, which would be worth a look. Easy drive up the M4/A419 from London.

We were at Babington last week. They had cards for an offer if you go before the end of March - 2 people, 2 nights, £200 each. Dinner, bed and breakfast.

Not expensive.

Harry,

As ewenm said Bath Thermae Spa - it's very modern and also gives the added benefit of shopping and plenty of nice places to dine and drink.....

Shame - still, may call them to see what they can do on a weekend...

Or just take a Wednesday and Thursday off, and start the weekend well...

Champneys Tring as has already been suggested is top-notch. All the ladies I know who've been there have raved about it and gone for repeat visits.

Plus, I live just down the road from there. So you have the added advantage of being able to drop the Morgan round mine for safe keeping whilst you relax at the Spa...?

I need to say sorry in style, so any suggestions welcome. Must have a good spa, not just be a hotel. Needs to be driveable in a weekend from London. Looking at Babington House (amazing, but a long way away and very expensive) and Rushton Hall (recommended by a friend). Anything else in striking distance that anyone knows about?

Any help appreciated.
Not looked at the other replies so don't know whether this has been mentioned but look here:

The hotel is fantastic and would highly recommend it. You can hire out the "4 hands on room" for 3 hours at a cost of around £300 but well worth it. The room has two massage tables, 4 poster sofa, jacussi and fully loaded with Bang and Olufsen. Masseurs will massage both of you and then leave you for a couple of hours.

Hotel also has its own private cinema.

Staff fantastic and very discreet... rooms even better.

Go there.............. will be pricy but an unforgettable experience. She will gladly accept your apologies smile
