Any Dubai visitors or residents here?

Does anyone have any opinions on the new Aquaventure water park vs. the Wild Wadi? I'm taking the ankle biters there in a couple of weeks and wondered which one to splash out on (geddit?)......

Not been to the other but Wild Wadi worked out much cheaper.

Been to both - I prefer Wild Wadi but one advantage of Atlantis is that that on the "wave" ride it's continuous, so you just let the kids go round and round while you have a break

btw when I went to Atlantis you could get 30% off the entry price by paying with Amex

Had my first ever unintended colonic irrigation nearly ten years ago at the Wild Wadi. Nice. Surely the game has moved on over there by now?

Never been to either but did have a look at wild wadi (well i did have a ticket to go but having the squirts and being in a swimming pool didn't sound appealing) and chocked laughing when what i thought was a stingray came to the surface and was actually a woman in full burka thing, looking like a swimming ninja.

WW is great fun. You also get in earlier as well as free if staying at the JBH or the Burj.

My wife took our 5yr old there last week to see my sister. They were going to go to WW, but my BiL advised them against it, as there is not a lot for little ones there. They went to Atlantis instead and had a great time, as it had more kiddy focussed slides

Kind of related.

We once went to a water park in Crete and one of the flumes was totally closed, pitch black and routed similar to a toilet waste pipe i.e. straight down and a U bend.

It caused me a proper injury. Imagine sitting in a pitch black tube, feeling of weightlessness for a second then Ricky Hatton opens up on your head throws you out into bright sunshine, where your blinded, then plunged underwater to nearly drown in a state of semi conciousness. I thought it was the end of me!

Went round for anther go mind....but only one more.

Aquaventure knocks the spots off WW. Miles bigger and better rides. However couple of tips.

1) Pop into any branch of Spinneys/Carrefour/book shop and buy a Dubai Entertainer they have a BOGOF offer for Aquaventure.
2) Take your own food, it is really expensive buying from the outlets there.
3) Take the kids on the ride that ambles (what a great word) through the mahoooosive fish tank
4) Dont take the kids on the mahooosive ride that is essentially a cliff with water....but do go on this yourself. You will be scared unless you are a) a ninja, b) Chuck Norris, c) a ninja Chuck Norris.

Went to Atlantis a month ago and wild wadi a few years ago. Was actually dissappointed with the atlantis one - it didn't seem much more advanced than the older wild wadi. That said, the atlantis rides which go "through" the shark tanks are cool.

The "level 3" steep slides are certainly colonic irrigators. I threw the missus down the "cliff" one (stop moaning luv you'll be fine, it's just a slide dear...etc etc). I followed her and, at the bottom, as soon as I'd stopped coughing and spluttering, admitted that had I gone down first to "test" it I wouldn't have advised her going on it. She wanted another go but fortunately I tempted her away with the promise of an ice-cream.

Amex discount is very worthwhile as it's not cheap. Maybe take your own towels as they charge for them.

BIG rofl and yes

My first water ride experience was very similar only I got the combo colonic irrigation and jet washed nuts! hehe

WW was fine for us last year, my suggestion:
idea Do them both.

The queues for the rides at Aquaventure are as spectacular as the rides at Wild Wadi.
