A cursory glance through these lists suggests that South America is the lonely cousin out there, getting relatively few visits.

Wonder why that is...

Too far?
Too vast to decide where to go?
Not known enough?
Poor image (drugs or whatever)?

Any thoughts?
I shot over to Bogota for 31/2 days last week. It's not too bad to get to - 10 hours, direct overnight flight from LHR on Avianca means you're pretty rested going each way. The city felt very safe (albeit we didn't really go to the stty areas), the costs were very reasonable and the food was incredible. It looks like we are going to be doing a fair amount of business over there next year, so I'd better get used to the trip pdq.

Off to Rome tomorrow for a couple of days and I bet I'm going to see more crime there!

I've always wanted to visit South America, but never quite got round to it due to circumstances, chances to visit other places and really that I want to do South America properly and actually spend a few weeks enjoying various countries rather than just a quick trip to say Buenos Aries or Rio. It'll happen one day though. hehe

Apr-07 Xiamen, China
Oct-08 Ha Noi, Vietnam
Aug-09 Seychelles
Jul-10 Chicago, USA
Jul-10 Sarnia, Canada
Apr-11 Singapore
Apr-11 Hong Kong
Jul-11 Chicago, USA
Aug-11 Sarnia, Canada
May-12 Chicago, USA
Dec-12 Vancouver, Canada
Jun-13 Toronto, Canada (for U.S.)
Jun-13 NY, USA
Oct-13 NY, USA
Nov-13 Singapore

Mar-14 Toronto, Canada
Mar-14 NY, USA
May-14 Chicago, USA

Most of the Chicago entries are visiting my brother when I'm travelling on business, using O'Hare as my U.S entry hub. smile

Given I drive all over Europe, and live in a country neighbouring Belgium, France & Germany, we cross borders a lot. I've lost count of the places visited.

Ooh, can I have a go as well.

It's Ireland, not Eire.
North Cyprus is not a recognised country distinct from (South) Cyprus.
Martinique is part of France (a DOM).
Bonaire, Aruba and St Maarten are all part of the Netherlands.

wink

North Cyprus is definitely a separate country and qualifies as for years the only way to get there was via Istanbul - you could not cross from the south.

At 30 years old:

Asia:

Pacific:

That makes 67, well 66 if you take off Qatar airport. Technically I have been to a small bit of Bosnia on the train from Serbia to Montenegro but it doesn't even stop there also stepped into North Korea in the Joint Security Area on the border but that doesn't exactly count. I had to send my last passport back as it was full, so now have a fat one which I have 5 more years to fill up, which I need to get to work on as the last few years have not involved that many stamps.

To pick one weird event, maybe getting drunk with the border guards in Laos while waiting for the Vietnamese side to finish their lunch break, while a newly found travel companion tried to use their computers to forge 'onward flight tickets' to be allowed through. We ended up hammered, then hitched a ride in a corn truck to some random place at 3am.
