Around 48 - I thought it was about 50 or so but I can't think of any I've missed. They were all done in about a 20 year period. haven't added many new ones recently.
I'd forgotten I'd contributed to this thread back in 2009!

I don't think I've added any new countries since but I've revisited quite a few. Also I realised that I missed off Cote d'Ivoire, Romania and Bulgaria from the original list so my tally of 50 was about right.

Should be adding Czech Republic this year!

As for an unusual experience - well there are quite a few, but after adding Bulgaria it reminded me that I once flew back from Sofia in the Bulgarian government's private jet to Luton. The bizarre part was that I was enjoying champagne and canapes in the Sheraton hotel in Sofia one Friday evening at about 7pm but was back home in the UK feet up watching the 10 o'clock news that same evening! The benefits of GA flying wink

35 in 42 years. 3 favourite cities - Rio, Hong Kong and Tokyo. I'd not bother with Belgium again.

Only place I've really unsafe. Well, I've been to Jo'berg, Beunos Aires and Lagos. All felt ok... By contrast I couldn't wait to get out of Miami but May be that's more down to the hostel I was in and simply not setting expectations before I arrived.

81 or something. Includes some territories and dependancies. Probably forgotten a few islands (they all look the same after a while tongue out ). Helps that I have a ten-foot map of the world with them all marked right behind me now.

Aged 33, but if you counted the ones I've actually paid to go to by choice, the list would be considerably shorter.

Oh, and they are all sh it. There is nowhere I would settle other than Northumberland smile (maybe Scotland at a push, or the US, but no where else. Maybe Canada)
Good thread resurrection,

In the last five years I have only added Libya, Tunisia, Austria and Montenegro. Noticed Turkey is missing from my original list, been there since too.

So 86 ish.

We hosted the Rwandan Commonwealth Games team for the Glasgow games pre training, and adopted them as part of the "support a second team" programme that each Local Authority area signed up to. We got on really well with them and they subsequently invited us over to meet their committee and government minister in charge of sport, with a view to helping them put the structures in place to develop sport. We managed to get a load of sports equipment from sponsors and took that over to distribute; one of the many highlights was giving a child a football (he had been using old rags rolled up into a ball shape), and his reaction was very moving.

It's a fascinating country and the people were extremely welcoming.

I loved the Falklands. Been a few times with work wink. I took my mountainbike with me so got to see a bit more than some would. Wild life is amazing and the scenery is brilliant.
