West Cork, Ireland. Fly and pick up a car. Brilliant driving roads, but be warned, we dont fill in pot holes, look on them as either Yumps or Roundabouts !

And some of the best dining places ever.

I know you said in the UK. But a friend of my Mum has this place near Alicante in Spain. 100Euros for a week and you should be able to get flights out there for about £50ish.

Heres the link smile

Where are you based? (name suggests Worcestershire...). I often went to Dorset (Lyme Regis and thereabouts) but just had a weekend in New Forest, which was perfect! We stayed in Lyndhurst, which is a really comfortable villagy place just a couple of miles off the M27, so swift journey for us down from Hertfordshire, lots of good B&B's and restaurants, great walking/cycling, and plenty of other interesting things/places to visit nearby.

Many thanks for the suggestions.

Wifey has chosen Scotland, we've just booked a B&B in Plockton, we tried a couple in Applecross, but they were full.

So .... Highland exploring !

Plockton is a good choice - although very busy at this time of year. Easy to get over to Skye for a day's exploring or up to Applecross/Torridon/Gairloch.

Hope you get good weather and not too many midgies - there were plenty of the latter there last week and not much of the former!

Great choice. Not jealous at all....grumpy

We had a week in the highlands two years ago. We also tried to book places in Applecross and Plockton, but failed. Ended up in a cottage in Cannich (which was lovely), but still visited the other two places as well. Actually, mrs k got a little grumpy with me as well: I was on PH every night reading the updates on CJ88's Nazi Bunker thread. On a slow 3G laptop connection hehe

LOL, he isn't an idiot, I can still remember thinking how old my dad was when he reached 40 !

When you see a nice bit of skirt you still think it's nice, but have to hesitate to remember why you think it's nice.

I did the Amsterdam thing when I was younger, with the lads from my sqn, I also grew up near "Cheddar Road" in Birmingham.

How about Dorset? I had a lovely holiday a few years back where we walked the south-west coastal path and camped / slept in the car / got cheap B&Bs en route.

+1

Visited Dorset for the first time in my life just a couple of weeks ago, totally loved it.
