Just looking forward to going to the F1 in Istanbul in May, I'm sure the cars will drown out the sound of the explosions going off in the background.

If you're so obsessed, go to bloody Bognor Regis.
Have you been to Bognor lately? I'd really rather go to Syria smile

no where IN Europe will be safe. In fact no country that participates in NATO will be safe since they are now in control of Libyan attacks. This includes the UK of course.
I entirely agree that is the way of the world currently.

Do you agree that Syria is now having difficulties and is nextdoor to Turkey?
Yes, both those things are true.

Neither would change my mind about holidaying in Turkey though.

Nowhere in Europe will be notably dangerous either.

Iraq is basically next door to Turkey too... Has that stopped people going there since 2003 when there has been a full scale war on?

Some people really do worry too much and try to scaremonger others.

As said in previous posts, every Nato country that is involved in Libya now is a terrorist target. Doesnt matter what part of the world they are from.

I do think Italy has pretty much painted a bullseye on over its country by allowing all the aircrafts etc to operate out of there. They could be in for a pretty big fall.

TBH I'm not convinced. No one likes Ghadaffi, and we don't (officially at least) have any troops on the ground and the action that's been taken is in support of a rebel movement so barring a few nuts from the outgoing regime no one's going to be particularly upset.

Suppose it all depends on whether he fancies bank rolling some more terrorism like he did in the past, or hang onto the cash incase he does infact lose this "war".

The main violence occurring in July is that inflicted on your wallet by travel companies and airlines. With a family, I have unerringly found that booking your own flights and a villa proves as cost effective and offers far greater privacy than a grotty hotel.

It's really a question of shopping round and doing the legwork though. For example, I have found that flights are cheaper during the week but that renting villas is harder straddling weeks and that flight times are often as good a reason to book one holiday over another when you have kids (early and late flights). There are still reasonably priced flights to Mallorca via BMIBaby but hell, the villas are cripplingly expensive.

I'm currently looking at flying to Reus (south of Barcelona)via Thomson and trying to book something cheaper in Spain but like I say, it's all work.

If it's any help, while flights to Lanzarote are on the higehr side, the villas tend to be cheaper. just some ideas.

You could of course arrange your own flights and book accommodation only.

Hmm, the ipod was turned up a bit loud at times and the headphones do cancel out some noise... So you could well be right.

Never had one single issue in Turkey in over ten holidays and don't expect one this year.
