RE: Marcos TSO
Discussion
Oh dear. I love the front of the car. Smacks a bit of 'smoothed speed 12' and that's just fine. Looks better than other Marcos's, but yeah, the two tone paint looks shite. Smoother body and move the front wheels back a tad. Yeah, I know, I'm a spoilsport, its not marcos's design philosphy to make such changes. But seriously, the front looks so good and you know if the proportions were fixed that would be a beautiful looking sporstcar.
LS1? that engine hasn't been in service since 1997. Oh wait, it has. Whilst I've heard its remarkably frugal for a V8, and I no doubt know that the TSO will go like stonk (and more...) I've personally been waiting for the demise of this engine for a while. Given that its been in every commodore since 1998, and they still can't seem to fix the oil consumption problem on most of them...
As for the dials? Nice enough. Simple, elegant, good for conversions. Sad to see the fixed chair moving pedals arrangement gone, but I suppose it had to happen.
Overall, I think about a 6/10. But each to his own.
PS: don't give me stuff about the old rover 3.5/4.0l V8. I know its been around for yonks, but its british. British? Nice to have a pommy powerplant in a british car, wouldn't it? Rather than some everymans motor yank V8. Cheerio.

At last somebody has done the Anglo/American car theme justice. Good concept, good specialist company behind them, good power/weight ratio, interior looks ok, you want it cheap and chearfull but stylish. Now make it work with a good roof that doesn't leak. Oh yeah keep the price down too. 45k which will end up at nearly 50k when you get it in your hand! Too close to a 1 year old 911 with great reliability.

I think you'll find the rover V8 was an old GM oldsmobile aly block engine designed in the late 50's ( first into service in 61) and ditched later for convensional iron block. Rover aquired the rights to the engine in the mid 60's
As for the marcos, loved it at the motorshow, well pleased witht he updated interior too, good chassy, great v8, light 2 seater, should be reliable to - perfect.
First impression is that this is the car a lot of people have been waiting for - reliablilty, looks (bar the paint job) and a big bhp V8 for £40k.
Well done Marcos (I might even forgive you for moving out of Wiltshire....).
EDIT: Note to Ted, more Graham Bell reviews please - much more informative and interesting than certain other reviewrs (and their egos).

Finally managed to stop Marcos getting the newly repainted TSO ready for MPH long enough to get answers to some of the questions raised, so here they are:
First, weight of the standard TSO is 1,070kg while the R/T is 1,090kg.
Secondly, regarding roll protection, the windscreen frame is reinforced. There's also the option of a structural roll bar for the rear.
Thirdly, the intention is that the TSO will be sold in the USA - after all, Tony Stelliga still spends half his time in California so he'll want one to play with over there!
Main priority though is establishing the car in the UK, then work will start on developing the left hand drive version for USA and Europe.

I wish they'd ditch that hideous two-tone paint job, . . . .
I like that twotone very much!!! Please keep that for an option.

T350 anyone?
Did you look well? This is sooo different.
The LS1 is OK. I would have a big straight 6 in it thanx. But maybe I'm to TVR-focussed . . .

I'm apparently not the only one to think it looks like a T350. And I wouldn't be surprised if someday someone would say that those headlights were taken from a T350...
As for anything under the headlights, you're right, it's different, it looks more like a Speed 12

Question:
How do people think depreciation will compare on a new TSO to a new Speed 6 engined TVR?
Somehow I see one loosing a fair bit less wodge than the other...
Put it this way, if a one-year old TSO with a 400 hp V8 popped up in PH classifieds for a fair price I don't think it would hang around for long. Do you ? !

The owner was satisfied for only one year???
I hope owners get bored after 18 months or two years. Since I'm a nice chap I may be able to do someone a favour and take one off their hands.
