I don't know much about Marcos cars but have always quite liked the look of them

My eye has been drawn to this mantula but the ad claims it is a 1973 car and having just looked at the Marcos Wikipedia page it says the mantula Spyder wasn't in production until 1986.

The DVLA website also States the registration is for a 1973 blue Marcos.

The car has a rover v8 engine and a 5-speed manual gearbox

Is this a bit odd and should I just give it a wide berth?

1973 build means it can't be a Mantula

I suspect it started life as either a 3.0 V6 or 2.0 V4 coupe - https://www.marcosheritage.com/historyofmarcos

Cheers that's what I was thinking but does that mean it has had a new engine and gearbox plus a new body?

Or could it just be a 1986 Mantula with a 1973 registration document?

Hi,

If you view/join the Marcos Cars page on fb and scroll down this car is discussed there and lots of friendly owners who will assist with any info you require,

Marcos cars are cool but then i may be a little biased,

a V5 from a 1973 car was used to register this Mantula....most probably this car was never finished until SVA / IVA came into force ,hence this illegal approach to register it, was done.

also this rings the bells:

"The owner imported the car from the UK and never registered it in Switzerland so it still is on the original UK V5C papers"

so, so....he never registered it in Switzerland..... this would be the correct sentence:

"the swiss Authorities denied the registration in Switzerland because they regconized that this car has an illegal homologation"
