Depends on the trainers. Personally I think the Onitsuka Tigers look great with jeans.
I wear Tigers or brown boots with jeans

Not really, I don't actually give a toss and will probably continue wearing comfy shoes, 'cause that's what I like to do,
Spot on!

trainers and shoes pretty much covers most footwear but neither are considered acceptable.
..but acceptable by whom? 'Fashion' seems to me to be the one issue on which normally right-minded people allow themselves to be told what to do by other people... smile

No, like I said above, I was just curious as to what people who didn't approve of trainers or shoes would be wearing, given that trains and shoes covers pretty much everything. Okay, it's a slow Sunday. I don't feel like doing anything productive and the OH is glued to her laptop, hence the discussion!
Fair enough mate. It wasn't really my intention to have a dig at you. smile

Casually I wear trainers (well usually Converse) with jeans, on a night out I wear maybe some dark shoes and jeans.

I have about 8 pairs of plimsoles in different colours, they feel nice to drive in and are casual.
Although not best if doing long walks (obviously).

I wear a nice red pair of these with my jeans, comfy and they go well.

I think people who worry about what footwear is 'acceptable' in situations sufficiently informal to wear jeans need to remove the broom handle from their arse.

Judging by the state of the average Joe in the town centres up and down the country, I'd say appropriate footwear is the least of their problems.

hehe

Any footwear can look good with jeans! Just look in the mirror if it doesn't suit then change. Simple.

Depends on so many factors.

Your age
Your size
Your shape
Where you are going
Who you are going with
The colour/fit of the jeans

Then again, what do I know.

I spend all my money on running my car and buying watches, so I just tend to buy clothes and shoes stuff in the sale and wear what the bloody hell I like.

High heels. Pink ones with little leopard-print bows on them.

Ah but I do not care what it looks like (except socks with sandals). I have no fashion sense and I do not give a jot. People that worry about such stuff need a fasionectomy and go out in the world and worry about more important things. Next they will be asking what shirt goes with a trilby or what tie and sock combination.

Why are 'trainers' (Sneakers?) a no no with jeans?
They're not. Anyone who agrees can be added to the list of PHers who could possibly be Jeremy Clarkson.

Because he actually definitely posts on here apparently.

I wear these sorts of things with jeans. At work and at home.
