Strangely addictive. If the traffic obeyed the crossing laws for this particular one, the area would be in gridlock.

Actually, you are wrong, any HC entry that has a footnote is indeed Law, as the footnote refers to the specific Legislation.
Thats how I understand it, but there is no footnote under rule 19.

One question I can't find an answer to (in my 5 mins of looking), does the rta apply to all ages?
You are correct, there is no Legislation connect to Rule 19. I was responding to your statement that 'none of the above is Law'.

In regards to age limits vs the RTA, I have no idea.

How can anyone possibly blame the Golf driver on the previous video is beyond me.
Well, I take the opposite view. I cannot see how anyone can fail to see that the Polo should not have been on the crossing when the girl ran across. There is *no* way I would have proceeded across that crossing without slowing right down, having moments earlier seen that there were pedestrians on both sides of the crossing but I don't have a clear view of the crossing itself.

Each evening I have to cross a zebra that has far worse visibility than the one in the vid due to stationary oncoming traffic. I slow down and prepare to stop at the crossing and only proceed when I see that it's clear to do so.

Fair enough. smile

The daft thing is, it's not even the original crossing that the Beetles used. It was moved along up the road.
According to at least one website out there that's a myth. The website uses the location of drains etc that appears to show the zebra is in the same place.

He even has info on the VW Beatle in the shot too.

There is a group of people on the left, walking away from the crossing, the driver sees one pedestrian on the right stopped to let a car over, nothing on the crossing itself, you cannot anticipate the ped to do a sudden sprint over the crossing for no reason, right behind the car that the ped let pass.

OT
In Sweden we have crossings where cyclists and mopeds even have right of way, imagine that. You look to the right and to the left, crawling towards the crossing, and just when you're about to drive over the crossing there is a cyclist coming at full speed heading right at you.

fking stupid law!

the ped *may* in running perpendicular towards the car have been in it's blind spot all the time as they closed. it's easy done.

and ^that crossing, rightly or wrongly, most regular/local motorists tend to try to give the impression they don't intend stopping as once you do it tempts whole groups of waiting peds to walk out and stop to have their photo's taken one after another.

should paint over the damn thing really.

Might it be too scurrilous to suggest that neither was born elsewhere, and neither was in receipt of State Aid and so rather a non-story? whistle
