In the US it can be, I believe.
You can effectively choose to pay your tax liability to charity or the federal govt.
I am sceptical of that although happy to be proved wrong. You can effectively choose to pay your tax liability to charity or the federal govt.
I would have thought that no one would pay tax in that scenario
That doesn't benefit you at all though because you are giving the money away. You don't benefit out of that transaction in any way whatsoever - you have just earned less because you have given it away.
i.e. simplistic example with rough figures:
You earn £30k you pay 23% tax on that £30k =£6.9k in tax
You earn £30k and give £10k to charity thus pay 23% on 20k = £4.6k
How are you better off having done that? Basically you have just earned £10k less so you have paid less tax. There is no advantage and no "writing it off against tax" which is a meaningless phrase often used to imply that things are free when you own a business.

Today's annoyance: men who wear sandals to work.
With no socks.
Just...
no.
Ugh.
>shudder<

A woman I know works in media and a chap in her office wears jeans, a t-shirt and brown leather brogue work shoes with no socks. Actually it is worse. He does wear socks but those tiny ones that are designed to look like you have no socks on when you have clearly denoting that this is a statement.
I have never met this bloke but I fking hate him nontheless

Yeah, but at least you can't see his horrific toenails.A woman I know works in media and a chap in her office wears jeans, a t-shirt and brown leather brogue work shoes with no socks. **Looks down at white ankle "sport" socks and casual trainers. And knee length shorts.
Hmm
In my defence, this way my feet won't sweat into my trainers making them smell worse than goats cheese...
Do you live in the tropics? Here in the UK it's about 19c outside. What will you do when (if) it gets warm? Hmm
