I saw that, I think Daily Mail first ran it as a "How the mighty have fallen" story, but he got lots of support from people because he was working for a living.
I'd much rather be working as a labourer that as some ahole Daily Mail journalist. They really are a bunch of s aren't they?

This sort of thing came up on Nevermind The Buzzcocks occasionally, when they had to guess the singer/band member from a line up. I can't remember their names but there was a guy who was in a one not-exactly-a-hit wonder boy band that got a slightly mocking "Now selling quality new and used cars" and a girl will a similar music career who ended up becoming a police officer.

Most of the musicians are still touring or "recording a new album" though.

That's what I presumed this thread would be about: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-20286...

Even Z-listers have mortgages. Fair play to them for just getting on with their lives post 15 minutes of fame.

Nah this chap was on the bench the majority of the time all be it for a very successful club (then some smaller clubs later in his career), think you'd have to be a die hard fan of said club to know him by name.

There's 2 distinct groups in this thread.

Those that were 'celebrities' and are now earning a normal living.
those that retired from celebrity and now choose to do "normal jobs"
Don't people generally "retire" from celebrity when they stop getting calls for work? How many genuinely in-demand celebs getting regular work choose to opt out of it?

Not quite a celebrity, but the breakfast show presenter on Rock Radio used to play guitar with Nazareth.

I met him a couple of years ago, before he got the radio gig, he was driving delivery lorries for Asda, when i worked there as a student.
Dewsbury? I never knew that, he got married in Manchester on the same day as pippa's sister and her fella IIRC.

I grew up in Cheltenham (where Eddie is from) and Eddie was indeed a plasterer and also not a particularly good one.

That's what I thought, I certainly don't think any less of him for going out and working but surely he must have blown an absolute wk load of money to be in that position...? Unless in fact he was just helping a mate out which some of the reports suggest?

I don't know who you are referring to but most actors don't make that much, even if they are in well known roles. OK, the real stars of a well known soap will be in six figures but I doubt anyone gets six figures for being in the likes of Hollyoaks or Holby City

If he earnt enough to pay off his mortgage and keep a bit in the bank doing another job for extra cash isn't a bad idea. Stops the money running out completely and being completely up sh*t creek.

Are you sure they have no income? You are probably much richer than that katona bint. She has massive debts, but still has a decent cash flow, so as long as she can service the debt, and avoid the tax man, she can still live in a big (rented) house and buy flash cars.

She is very stupid though, so the money will run out, and it will most probably end badly for her.
she does not have massive debt as she went bankrupt a few years back

Back in the mid 90's my G/F used to baby sit for Neil Webb (Forest/Man UTD/England footballer). I accompanied her a couple of times whilst on holiday during my first year at university. I recall having a conversation with Neil about what I was going to do when I graduated and what he was going to do when he stopped playing professional football.

I guess Neil was one of the last of the breed of premier footballers who didn't benefit (personally) from the huge salaries that later became common place.

He was in the Sun Newspaper a few years back, working as a postman and leaving in a bed sit.

Shame, because he was a genuinely nice bloke.
