Where does the 'Brought' thing come from?
It is not even close in pronunciation so how do people get them confused?

I expect that these are people who use 'brought' instead of 'bought' in conversation as well as writing.

Has anyone here visited the Eureka museum in Halifax?

We've got a 6 week old baby so were looking for things to do which are child friendly, obviously at this age she isn't going to be that bothered, but my partners getting a bit bored of been stuck in the house.

while
I can't see anything wrong with the use of 'whilst' in that context.

I recall that while and whilst are more or less interchangeable when the meaning is although or whereas..

It's like fine art Trommel, everyone interperates it in a different way! laugh In fairness to the owner of that plate, he has made no attempt to mess with fonts, screws etc. What he's done does "suggest" the word diesel to the observer where as with the space in the correct location it most certainly is "just another numberplate". It's not a great numberplate by any means, value is hardly going to be enormous, but niether does it offend me in the way that some of the shocking "chav" plates do. By the rules it's a chav plate, by law it's illeagal, you're an awful harsh bunch on here! wink

"Whilst" is an older form of English (there used to be far more examples of this in older times - e.g. "The gentleman dost prepare too much").
It is a better word to use in certain contextx than "while" and I still prefer to use it when appropriate. But you do see "while" used a lot, especially in American English (of course).
