In fairness to the owner of that plate, he has made no attempt to mess with fonts, screws etc. What he's done does "suggest" the word diesel to the observer where as with the space in the correct location it most certainly is "just another numberplate". It's not a great numberplate by any means, value is hardly going to be enormous, but niether does it offend me in the way that some of the shocking "chav" plates do. By the rules it's a chav plate, by law it's illeagal, you're an awful harsh bunch on here!

"Whilst" is an older form of English (there used to be far more examples of this in older times - e.g. "The gentleman dost prepare too much").It is a better word to use in certain contextx than "while" and I still prefer to use it when appropriate. But you do see "while" used a lot, especially in American English (of course).
