I cocked up this year for my crossing in July.
I mistakenly booked it for the day I intended and so arrived about 25 hours late.
They were very good about it and let me cross at no extra cost.
I think the two lady's making the changes thought the mickey taking from the three women I was travelling with (Wife, Daughter, friend) was sufficient punishment.

But note that if you arrive late for a peek hour crossing you tend to get bumped back a couple of hours so and so may have to hang around a while.
