Is it just my stupid lovey-dovey coupled up friends that send a joint 'happy Christmas!!! XxX' text at 8am in the morning to every poor sod in thier phone?!

Why do they do it? A Christmas card did the job - and why do they feel the need to compete and try to do it earlier & earlier each year?!

Well it's finally Christmas, and for all that buildup it's just another day off work. With family 300 miles away, no partner and no kids it's just me, myself and I today. On the one hand, it can be hard, especially when you have put up with weeks of work colleagues going on about spending hundreds, or complaining they'll be bought crap they don't need. In a way it does make you wonder what you did wrong, or who you offended to end up in such a situation.

On the other hand, peace and quiet, no screaming kids, bickering inlaws, cracker jokes, being stuck in the kitchen all day making food for people who won't appreciate it, pretending to like distance relatives, debt........perhaps it's not so bad?

Ups and downs to each situation. I am also away from family but will be being festive with OH's family and so still have to be festive. Would perhaps be easier to be alone...

Oh how I wish. Have to go to my to ex-wife's family with my kids for the rest of the day and ex-wife has suddenly decided to join us which has just really put the final nail in the coffin.

Looking forward to the 28th Dec.

Are you hanging up your Flu-Plus on the wall?
Is it time that every germ bug comes to call?
Does it leave your nose bright red dear?
Does it spoil a lovely day?
Do the tablets make you want to sleep till May?

So here it is, fluey Christmas
Not everybody's having fun
Look for the tissues now
Your nose is going to ru-uuuuun

Are you waiting for the tablets to arrive?
Are you feeling more dead than you are alive?
Does your Granny always tell ya
That the old cures are the best?
As she rubs some nettle soup into your chest..

So here it is, fluey Christmas
Not everybody's having fun
Look for the tissues now
Your nose is going to ru-uuuuuun

Are you hanging up your Flu-Plus on the wall?
Are you hoping that your temperature starts to fall?
Do you wobble down the staircase
From a bed you haven't made?
Before going back with pills and lemonade?

So here it is, fluey Christmas
Not everybody's having fun
Look for the tissues now
Your nose is going to ru-uuuuuun

Just checking in: this time of year really is a complete . It is so fake - people forcing themselves to be happy and light when really they just return to their normal selves tomorrow and for what? Pointless and a complete hijacking by the religious establishments to try and exert some form of control on the sheep that is the working population.

Surprise, surprise, family managed to start bickering the second we tucked into our food (actually surprised we lasted that long - EDIT: just scrolled up and realised they were already bickering last night!). When will they learn that just because it's the 25th of December it doesn't make them like each other any more than the other 364 days of the year? I've fking had enough of Christmas now, from now on I think I'll refuse to celebrate it (with my family at least). Might start a tradition of 3 day driving holidays from the 24th-26th every year; far nicer than going through this torture every year.

Yesterday I went onto Facebook (I know). One of my 'friends' had posted a picture and it made me realise how I dislike elements of Christmas. She had neatly arranged all her gifts, including some of the posh bags they came in, made sure any designer labels were showing and decided to brag. Sad cow.

Would you like a mince pie? Mince pie? Mince pie? MINCE PIE?

Mince pie? MINCE PIE?
