I'm hosting the parents in Edinburgh at the moment, and my mum pointed out that once you get out of the centre there's a much higher proportion of bungalow type houses compared to elsewhere in the UK. I'd never noticed it before, but driving through lots of random areas in and around Edinburgh I noticed that she seems to be correct. Why might this be the case (if it's true at all!)?
Cheap(er) land?

Why is 'Talk like a pirate day' funny? Is there some subtle joke or Geek reference that I don't get/

Does food last longer when cooked?

I have a huge slab of salmon. It's best before date is today.

If I cook it all today will it still be ok tomorrow / day after?

Generally food seems less inclined to go off when it's cooked

I'm going to say "yes", but it won't extend its life beyond another couple of days.

Just a guess, but I suspect you can freeze it once 'freshly' cooked too.

I knew it was some sort of tribute to Robert Newton, but I still don't see the joke?

Why not talk like a policeman day? Or talk like a management consultant day? Or talk like Robin Day day?

Thanks, but that leaves the question why does a brain of such capability come along so infrequently? Einstein was recognised within his lifetime as a one off, I don't think Hawking reaches that rarified atmosphere with his theories quite so much.
But equally the current generation Einstein could be in a part of the world where their potential isn't realised.

Coz
the wiki article said:
ccording to Summers, the day is the only holiday to come into being as a result of a sports injury. He has stated that during a racquetball game between Summers and Baur, one of them reacted to the pain with an outburst of "Aaarrr!", and the idea was born.
I suppose if the injured man had shouted "Oh Bollux!" then it would be Talk Like A Management Consultant Day smile
Its as good a reason as any I suppose. No reason why we cant have a Talk Like A Management Consultant Day if people want bored to death

It does seem a coincidence that Oscar Wilde was born in the 1850's, Noel Coward around 1900, then Stephen Fry in the 1950's. Was there a clever slightly smug gay bloke born around 1800?
