Before you report this thread as a scam, hear me out.

Someone sent me a link to an iPad for £49 on the tesco direct website. I checked it all out, legitimate site. So i didnt hesitate and bought it on my credit card. I made sure it was a secure site, and i used my Nationwide card verification thing that normally comes up with online transactions. Since then the website has crashed, and now the product has been removed.

I know when something sounds too good to be true it usually is, but i know these mistakes do happen with online shopping (ive seen a thread on a different forum where people successfully bought a stereo worth £80 for £15).

Unfortunately the item is a pre order, so im not sure where they stand legally with processing my sale.
Can anyone shed some light?

They won't honour it, as somewhere on the site it will say E&OE for "errors and ommisions excepted".

IIRC from a previous thread. You will probably get a groveling appology of an email from the site shortly and be given your money back.

Or you have just paid a £50 deposit and they will debit the rest on despatch.

From their terms and conditions;

"If, by mistake, we have under priced an item, we will not be liable to supply that item to you at the stated price, provided that we notify you before we despatch the item to you. In those circumstances, we will notify the correct price to you so you can decide whether or not you wish to order the item at that price. If you decide not to order the item, we will give you a full refund on any amount already paid for that item in accordance with our refund policy in section 7 below."

They have absolutely no obligation to sell it to you at that price.

Expect an email with a sorry, here's a £5 voucher for the inconvenience.

Well, legally, they don't have to sell it to you at £49.

Is it a case of, they don't have to sell it to the the buyer and everyone else can but it( at normal/correct price) but if they do sell it to to the original buyer it has to be at the price advertised.

Not until money has changed hands is the deal done.

Sorry, no that is not the case.
That used to be the case when people bought things in places called "shops". Now I'm not so sure.

Money can be taken, and refunded, it entirely depends on the T&Cs agreed to.
