sparks_E39 said: This is why I will only buy off people with 100% feedback on eBay. What about the poor souls who have their feedback affected by idiots? My OH offered an iPhone 3G for sale. Clearly said it was on Vodafone and not PAYG. Muppet wins auction then tries to pull out as they didn't want it. OH was ok to do this so buyer didn't get stuck with sommat they didn't want. Next thing we know the idiots posted negative feedback on basis that phone was "wrongly described said it was PAYG when clearly it wasn't". The bay can be a great place but it does put you in touch with some munters.

I sold a car, I waited in all day for the winner who never turned up and when i asked why she didn't turn up, advised the car was not as described when you hadn't even bothered to turn up. Ebay sided with her.
Another bought my xbox 360 150 miles away for collection only, said he was coming etc on a day, never turned up I left it a week for him to collect and then left me negative feedback as i wouldn't post it. I had done nothing wrong as a seller, but I had the black marks against me.
But i have had some really good sales to, all to their word..

I think I've been quite fortunate with eBay, I seem to have avoided the muppets. I don't buy much on there, but am also slowing down the selling as the fees are getting silly.

TBH the last few bikes I have sold, I have sold via Trade-it or Gumtree.
Free to list and sell, no danger of bad feedback from idiots etc, and I have sold them for more than I might have got on E Bay.

there are some good sellers on there...
Saw a brian wood charger that is usually 100 and seller had it on sale at 50, I missed the sale due to ebay locking my account and it was back up for 75... I emailed the seller a cheeky email saying if he put it back down to 50, i would buy it straight away.
The seller replied stating that as I'm the only person buying all the brian wood pottery on ebay (mother is a massive fan) for the last 18 months after checking what I have been buying and even checked other purchases, he was happy it would go to a good home and he would finally get rid of it.
So some good sellers out there in my experience.

He has just relisted it, with a starting price well over 50, and he still has my 99p in PayPal.
I think I will give eBay a call, I should be able to get a policy breach against him.
I was tempted to place a link to his new listing on here, but I won't...

GTIR said: carmonk said: I did that for a dishwasher. Brand new (well, used literally twice) but needed a new pump, reasonable value was around 100 in that state. Put it on with no reserve and someone won it for 0.99. So they came and collected it. I could have been a dick and told him oh no, you need to pay 100 but the bloke won it fair and square so he got a bargain. So to the OP, definitely make a complaint to ebay. The seller is obliged to sell to you at that price so he's in breach of contract if he doesn't. Plus, anything that reduces the number of t ts on there can't be a bad thing. You used it twice and the pump failed? You do know your not supposed to have sex with it don't you. It lead me on.

It has to be reciprocal to be valid. On the other hand, I've only ever been on the receiving end of dodgy sellers in deals that have gone wrong. Like the bloke who sold me a USB Turntable which he said was "100% new and working". When I had problems with it he said "Send it back and I'll refund the money", which I did and then, nothing... I then found he'd bought a batch of these "100% new and working" turntables from someone else on an auction with a listed fault (the one I had!). Paypal refused to help me as I'd sent it back with a POP rather than recorded delivery. I contacted the Post Office saying this bloke was a crook and had almost certainly received it and they reimbursed me - No idea if they let him get away with it. M

If you start at 99p, you know you're running a risk. So many cretins on Ebay. Totally agree, too many people wont pay for a reserve yet when the item fails to reach a 'decent' amount it becomes damaged or no longer for sale.

How did you sell it for 10p? You can start at 0.01, or at least you used to be able to. I once sold some DVDs at that after I listed them from 1p!

I put my car on at 0.99p no reserve. Luckily it got 36 bids and I got book price but if someone had won it cheaper I'd have still honoured it.
