Workmate has named her son King-London.
That's all I have to say about that.

Do you offer to go bowling with him on a regular basis?
I reckon its a reference to the Grand Theft Auto 4 game, as there was a character there called Roman that you went bowling with often.

Whwn I was born (back in the 1950's), there was a lot of family pressure on my dad to name me after him, as it was "an old family name". He refused, and I was called "Alan".

A definite improvement on "Homer". Imagine the grief I'd get these days? eekeekeek

This thread seems to be 50/50 between kids with truly stupid names such as the DKNY/Dicknee classic and people who just don't get out much so think that names that aren't common, such as Levi, are stupid.

Neither of our kids names are common, certainly not in any of the Top 100 lists, and I find that some people get it, some really don't. The ones who do tend to be the more intersting and outgoing of our friends and family and as the vast majority of people we know are boringly middle class there's no correlation there.

Swings and roundabouts, horses for courses etc. Some people like change, some don't.

Octavia is a girls name and pre-dates the car (even the original Octavia) by quite a bit.
I know, it wasn't so much the name as the context & location.
I suppose you had to be there.

Today on the other hand, walking around a busy zoo I've lost count of how free range gorillas I've heard screaming out daft names to entice their offspring off the swings to come & eat a banana.

Holy thread resurrection etc

Anyway, young woman on 5live on Monday I think talking about her son - Addison, who I assume was conceived in a taxi.

They were talking about parents behaviour at their kids sporting events today and talking to a young girl of about 12 called Lexus. She seemed like an articulate and intelligent young lady in spite of her obvious disability

There are alot of kids here in NZ called Sativa, as a large amount of the population are simple.

'Justice' is quite popular too among the more pinchy/stealy members of society. But as thats on the list of names you can't call kids they spell it in all sorts of stupid ways.

I think you've got it round the wrong way. Justice would be an illegal name as it implies a member of the judiciary. Big no no. I thought everyone in NZ was called 'Bro' smile

A guy I used to know had a girlfriend called Porsche. I wrote them a thank you card because they kept my car on their drive while I went on holiday.

I wrote "Dear Alex and Portia...." and the next time I saw Alex, he was surprised that I didn't know how to spell 'Porsche'

I know a bloke who named his first son Riddick.

I told him to stop taking the proverbial when he told me, but no.

"The Mrs loves Vin Diesel, so she wanted the baby named that"

So it was.
