fk fk fk...he was rushed into hospital this afternoon, and given 3 scans. Basically been told 'have the operation, or die' frown

Just waiting for the call to say they are ready to scramble his noodle

Hope it all goes/went well. Also think that you should beg/borrow/steal to get down with him to be there for him!

Sorry to hear that Pen. Hope all goes well smile

Meanwhile, in other news, I'm now single.

I'm a bit cross because had I known earlier I'd have taken the opportunity to lech and perv at Le Mans.

I'm genetically programmed to find tall blondes attractive, and at LM the Dutch and Danes were out in force.

*swoon*

Perhaps tellingly, I went with friends rather than the (then) OH.

Hey ho.

Finding tall blondes attractive is quite normal. Especially dutch and danish blondes.

I also have similar other news; my potential relationship that seemed to be slowly going well got totally blown apart. A few days to get myself sorted, and I'm back looking.

Was browsing the generally useless PoF this morning, and came across a colleague. Who I thought was in a relationship .... obviously not any more.

Its a little awkward knowing how to approach her - I've worked with her on occasion ... so my only knowledge of her has been totally professional.

So relationships with colleagues - yes or no?

Send her a message on there.

'hey, fancy seeing you on here. I always thought you were attached. We should bump uglies in the board room sometime. I've often looked down your top and imagined ruining you. If you prefer the bosses desk we could always work late, come on, you know you want to wench'

I've done work relations with both colleagues and clients. Doesn't usually pan out unless it's just been for sex. Once feelings are involved it's hassle.

Do you mind if I cut and paste? Liking the sound of it. Straight to the point.

I joined POF but how the hell do you guys manage to get replies? Do you use chat up lines or go for usual "Hey, how are?". I've tried involving some stuff from their "Describe me" section but no luck so far! Would appreciate some tips smile

I've used PoF for a while and had a few dates out of it.

First one turned out to be a horror, had I been less of a gent I think I'd have run when I first clapped eyes on her, she was NOT like her picture!
The second one was similar, but she looked a bit ropey in her pics but I went for experiences sake.
The third one was much better, surprisingly she was much, much better than her pictures. We got on really well but she clearly didn't like me as we never met again after the first date.

I gave up after that, but joined up again a few months later. This time I included that I'd date a single mum, and quickly had 3 or 4 girls messaging me. Usually I have to make the first move but these girls (who were mums) jumped on me hours after my profile went live.

I didn't date any of them, and eventually got talking to one girl (not a mum) six years younger than me, and we went dating.

Things seem to be going well, we've been 'seeing each other' for around two months now, but I'm not too sure I like her. Despite having the chesticles of a pron star and actively preferring it up the oxo tower, her personality really irritates me.

She's loud. I don't mean in the bedroom way, I mean normal conversations are held at volume turned to 11, even if I'm sat right next to her. She talks about her job and how much people there annoy her all the bleedin' time. Shes a bit clumsy, not very stylish and a bit socially awkward.

Her family, the sisters and parents being classic middle class types, staunch Labor supporters and all got degrees etc, are very dysfunctional. Some of the stories I've heard could easily have come from Jeremy Kyle.

I don't think it'll last long before we part ways.

Decent pictures. If they don't fancy you, you won't get a reply. I've been there.

And description. Why don't you post a shot of your profile and we'll all offer some help I'm sure wink

One of my female friends also on one of the dating sites said the "Hey, how are you?" a compliment and something about their profile to show you've actually read it and its not a standard mail you send to everyone and something about yourself works best. But keep it short, they don't want to read an essay either.

As much as I would love to do that but knowing PH, it wont be a very wise idea!

make it appear that you have read and give a st about the content of their profile i.e. their life. People are laying it out there, generic replies aren't gonna work on anyone but the desperate.

+1

No matter how well written your profile is, if they don't like the look of the pictures, its no go.

I was getting a little irritated by friday evening, some that seemed to be showing an interest were randomly stopping mailing back. Apart from one. Who went quiet for a little while, then gave me her phone number.

So continued our conversation via SMS, probably only a few hundred texts .... we're out for a date on Friday, with Saturday night also being on if we hit it off.

And to make me feel a little better about myself - the previous girlfriend who dumped me in theory to get back with her hubby (who's been cheating on her for years), sent me a text saying "Don't reply, but I miss you". Har har, knew it. I'm wonderful and she's regretting her recent decisions, her hubby is beating a total git.

This is true, but from what I gather the decent ladies get hundreds of mails a day, far too many for them to check out pics of them all...let alone read your well thought out intro....so the subject heading has to 'get them'...
I used: "Don't delete me yet!"...and got a good response rate...

Single single single again.

For the best I think. We'd been a bit on and off.

Not sure I want another relationship yet, but I do want something. But I'm not sure what it is. Just like, a best friend I think. Someone I can have a giggle with an' all.

Perseverance (decent pics and a well written light hearted profile, don't be boring)

Been seeing one of my PoF dates for 4 months now; things going well. We even introduced our children to each other 3 weeks back in it didn't end up in any fights.

A keeper for sure.

Just do it, we all have/did. yes

What I'd recommend is you get a good pic or two up, good description then message the nicest looking girl who is way out of your league. 7 months later you should be engaged. HTH.

Yes, probably not such a good idea. Tell you what, PM more your username and password and I'll give you some discreet advice...

Just to add a bit of balance...........

I tried match.com after being single for a while. Felt a bit awkward about on-line dating at first but decided to give it a go. Met someone really nice after 3 weeks and we’ve been together for 10 months now.

Very positive news...my b/f's biopsy came back clear woohoo

So no operation needed at present, but another MRI in 3 months time. Plus if they do need to operate, they can do it through his ear (lost all hearing now anyway) to prevent major scarring.

Penny-lope is a very very happy bunny biggrin
