Glad I live in the north! £100 for a first date up here and I'm sure they'd think you were a massive showboating tosser.

A few beers in a trendy bar that serves ham/olives/cheese/bread, or maybe grab thai if things are going well seems good up here and you'll have change from £50!

Surely £100 is excessive for a first date with a random??
You think? Most of my first dates in Leeds were in the region of £75 - £100. Even somewhere like Friends of Ham (to which I assume you were referring) would be £20 for a platter board and another £40 on a couple of bottles of wine.

I took one of my first dates to San Carlos and that was probably £150 or so by the time you through in some middle of the road wine.

Perhaps they did think I was a massive showboating tosser, but from the fanny that hangs around RBG looking for property types on a Friday evening, I'd say they are queuing up for the showboater tossing types.
I think am looking or a different type of woman!

£100 - £150 for a first date, potentially several first dates a month... that IMO is nuts.

£20 rohypnol
£20 for rope etc
£60 for the van hire

yep, £100 seems about the going rate for a date smile

Perhaps it was just indicative of my strike rate - several a year was about my limit.

depends how you are dating - if you Tinder then £100 for a first is a bit daft. You dont need more than a few drinks. 2nd date is investment time.

Yes, that is true. Never did the internet/tinder dating to be fair. All of mine were women I had met on a night out so essentially it was second date in effect. If it was a random via tinder or something I would have aimed at a few drinks only.

See I'm now taking a different approach with tinder, prepared to do it properly but also willing to make excuses and bail was the first play. Now I'm invested in more chat and banter before even bothering to meet, I want to know I'm at least going to have a laugh before bothering to waste time even meeting for coffee.

So tonight's, Sunday's, Tuesday's and Thursday's dates had better not be fking expensive hehe

But if the date is going well, wine is starting to work and things are getting more relaxed, and you're hungry, don't you want to continue with dinner?
Or do you just leave it at all there and go home?

I've never really had much of a structure to these things and tend to leave them fluid. If it leads on to an easy bite to eat then so be it, albeit that would probably be a quick/easy chain place than a nice restaurant if it wasn't the focus of the evening.

As I say, I don't tend to have a format, you tend to just go with the flow. I don't tend to get hungry of an evening and drinks are far more my bag than going for food anyway. Inviting women around and cooking for them is a guaranteed underwear removal method and far better than heading off to a swanky restaurant.

I think I might be a bit tight wink and I don't drink wine.

Thinking about it I went out with a mate last night and we probably spent >£80 between us on BBQ meat and a few beers so I probably undervalued a date in Leeds.

Agreed. But they (women) know the trick.
So unlikely many of them will accept on the first date!

Trick?

It's an offer to them. They can accept or decline. No trickery involved. Not quite sure how you could use trickery. Sorry luv, did you accidentally fall on my c0ck?

Her. CB. HER. Stop being so bloody trans-phobic frown
Apart from that he self identifies as a bisexual male.

£100/date? yikes

I've been dating a lovely lady for a few months now and I'd almost be amazed if we'd spent that much each in total!

Or is it a case of having set a bar at first date, you have to keep it up thereafter? The mind boggles at how some of you afford the dating lifestyle in such a manner.

Slight exaggeration, but you get the point.

Can't get my head around Tinder.

Decent number of matches, but they can barely be arsed to keep a conversation going (I conversate well!) or even respond to a first message.

It's all initial attraction - why swipe if you arent interested.

Women on an ego trip / just doing it for a laugh?

It's designed to appeal to shallow people with very short attention spans... So I would assume you have to move to the "meet for a drink" very quickly or they will get distracted/bored...

They're all mental and obsessed with saying how tall they are, how they don't want shagging and that their kids are there (sic) lives

Quite amusing though

Just my 2p for the cost of first dates, £10-20 depending how many drinks you have or if you're sharing the tab, meals come later if things work out.

With Tinder I'm swiping through the list pretty quickly and have to wait for more to join, there are very few I swipe right on. PoF isn't very fruitful at the moment either.

Rather surprised that shows up on the Apple App store. Thought Apples "guidelines" would bar it. And it is the first application I've installed on my 4S that absolutely refuses to open. Doesn't show on the menu either .... Bizarre.

Got an Android tablet around here somewhere, will try it on that.
