Within this world there are whole other worlds about which I know very little.

But they sound as if one could be drawn in very easily and pleasurably.

Is pleasurably a word?

I had a brief look at the website but its quite a confusing layout. Id essentially want a widebody with a comfy but lightweight interior in purple with carbon fibre accents. Powered by a modern 2ltr with room for a turbo. Probably a build costing 6k+

2 points.

1, Why widebody?

2, Have you thought about buying an already registered car and changing the bits you want to change?

Widebody because i love the shape and lines of em smile

It had crossed my mind but would you happily strip it down and do a nut and bolt resto on it and possibly put a new engine in it after sourcing one?

Handling suffers with wide bodys...

I'd be more inclined to do that. Less ball-ache as no IVA would be needed. Just send off the V5 with the new engine number and capacity on it (and the colour if that's changed.)

I'd just get purple plastics for it and take the old ones off.

Replaceable tupperware. smile

Handling will be good enough i wouldve thought as id have it fully polybushed and get you corner weighting/geo-ing it.

As for new plastics id get my paint man to paint it cerbera dark purple..

A proper set up will only do so much.

The truth of the matter is that cars were designed one way, then 4" was added to the track for fatties, but the suspension stayed the same.

Paint is fine. I can get the car up there when it's stripped.

Good job im not a fatty as it gives me more choice i guess, like i said the widebody is only better for me for cosmetics.

What engine would you recommend for one? Want something meaty and tuneable. I would be tempted by a V8.

ETA:

This would be a good base.

At the place I used to work the normal Caterhams would do a 48 second lap all day long. The SV was a struggle to get in the 49s.

No V8s. Taking cost into consideration, a Zetec would be a good bet. Cheap, reliable, fairly light, more than enough power for the application.

Yourer better off saving up a bit more for a 6 speed gearbox. You'll get more use out of that than if you're chasing horsepower.
