My 156 had it's little problems here and there, but broadly, it was as robust as any car I've owned and it was soundly thraped around when it was my work hack. The dealer in Canterbury (although paid a fecking king's ransom) was the best main dealer I've ever used too. Good blokes. Depreciation is a worry, but it's also what makes this pseudo-exotic purchase affordable in the first place. There's little in the BMW/Audi/Merc stable which is has both appeal and affordability currently, and I don't want another SAAB. Just need to find those special lightened teledial 19's that they put on the Prodrive fettled 'S' version. ETA apparently £1,200 for Prodrive originals... http://www.ebspares.co.uk/alfa_159/19inch_Brera_S_... Does that actually have tyres, or did they simply apply a light coating of black paint where you'd normally expect them to be? Very good looking thing. As an aside, whilst attempting to go to work this morn, I was passed by a black 8C Comp. Pure filth.

But one day, suddenly you'll wake up to a bloated fat car that gives you constant earache, high bills and will leave you with constant sleepless nights living in fear of being stabbed in the head with a rusty screwdriver. Avoid, they only end up looking like a 75. Not sure to what extent that's still the case DMN. Just need to find those special lightened teledial 19's that they put on the Prodrive fettled 'S' version. Stop being too polite - it's b ks (no offence, DMN). Wife's 2000 year Spider - owned 3 years and had no issues or expense over the usual maintenance. My 147 GTA - had it for a year, spent about £1000 on bigger brakes and an LSD, commuted 80 miles a day in it and it never missed a beat. Fabulous car that I only sold because I'd made a few naive assumptions about HMRC Wife's GT JTDm - beautiful car, not the finest dynamics and a pretty rough engine but again we had no major issues with it. My 2003 156 1.8TS Lusso - bought for £2k with 50k miles on it. Drove it like I stole it up to Shetland in winter where it spent 3 weeks parked up in the snow. Started first time when I brought it back home, then put another 10k miles on it including several trips to Bournemouth and back. Only sold it because I'd got back on my feet and wanted an MPS. It never once let me down and I only spent about £200 on it in a year. Like any car, shop around and find a good one. Read buyer's guides and you'll know what to look out for. Pretty sure the Brera doesn't weigh any/much more than the equivalent coupe from other manufacturers.

10 Pence Short said: I really like the Brera Spyder, but the Coupe just looks like a fat, pie eating b d. It looks funny from the back, granted. The transition from prototype to production model lost some of the appeal, as it was splodged onto the 159 chassis. But I still like 'em personally. I think. I'll change my mind again in a few days time no doubt...

I had a Spider for 10 days when the S2000 was being fixed on a 'like for like'basis. It was practically new and just wallowed along the road, biggest disappointment of any car I've played with. Shocking steering feel, rattly, just utter crap.
Then again it was the diesel and was not anything like 'like for like'.

Indeed it is. My favourite car of the 80's was a tempamenral git of an alfa sud.. but even now, most leave me cold... My post was more a tease at the drama queen histrionics of the Italian women I've known than than merits of Italian cars

The Brera is based on a 159 so is more comparable to an E92 in size, in my opinion.

Although it adds to the appeal given the roads I drive on the commute. Comme ça:

Morning, scamps.
Do we all know it's Friday today?
(I like that Alfafafafa estate. No, don't ask me what I mean. I don't know... I know nothing about Alfafafafas. It's relatively new, though. By 'new', I mean, not 20 years old...)
OK?
CW! You've been making the sex with someone you don't even fancy?? Kudos to you!
