Hmmm. . . maybe not entirely frivolous but i found myself watching some late night shopping channel action & ordered one of THESE, which has just been delivered!

To be fair there is the odd suspect stain on carpets & on the bathroom floor & kitchen tiles, so it may actually turn out quite useful.

I think that its purchase from a home shopping channel deems it to be frivolous as nobody needs anything from the home shopping channel. On the other hand, it does seem quite useful...

I think we can classify it as a frivolous necessity. Don't really need it but if it works, then it could be nice to have.

I got bought that same model as a present and exactly what you described happened.
