Have you seen the decanters? I don't drink either but those glasses paired with this decanter would look stunning.

Yes! But that sort of random stuff appeals to me. I have Woolly Mammoth bones which most people think is just odd, a alligator head is brilliant.

Haha sorry. Though to be fair the decanter is VERY cheap and very unusual.

First night dive last night, already have a perfectly good dive torch.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Light-Cannon-Scuba-Diving-...

Likely to do 1 night dive per month tops so 100 cyalume sticks is probably frivolous too.

Why? If some people have a little extra income that they wish to spend/waste on a frivolous purchase, why not?

What is your problem with it?
That's my point though.

It's not about how much they cost. They're not frivolous purchases for the majority even though they're making out they are. Most have obviously been purchased after much thought.
"I've been thinking about buying one of these for years so today I pulled the trigger on one" it is not a frivolous purchase.

Frivolous
adj.
1. Unworthy of serious attention; trivial: a frivolous novel.
2. Inappropriately silly: a frivolous purchase.

A car is never frivolous IMO. If it is you're not a petrolhead.

A bottle opener shaped like a penis that doesn't actually work is frivolous. A set of specialist speakers and amps is a thought out purchase. Not frivolous.
Sure, a lot of things on this thread may not be considered frivolous however the title of the thread is 'Your frivolous purchases, stuff you don't need...' and I think almost everything in the thread can be described as stuff the poster didn't need, even if it doesn't fit the dictionary definition of frivolous.

Anyway, I like seeing what people have bought as I'm a nosy bugger and sometimes I see things I like such as those sunglasses above. I may or may not have just bought two pairs...
I agree. I also like seeing what people have bought, otherwise I wouldn't be criticising it, but it irritates me when some people are just boasting about buying stuff they obviously need or want.

I'd say if you owned 10 pairs of sunglasses another pair may be frivolous regardless of cost.
Sorry sweetheart. xoxoxox bow

I don't need more blocks of flats! Lol! I just don't have time what with sailing and trips to Monaco and driving my frivolous Ducati Panigale (ABS). Lol. I've lots of bikes!

How crazy am I!

(I think some people need to stop the willy waving.)
Old jags, Sunglasses and r/c cars. Really?
Obviously not.
Tis a thread about frivolous purchases, not cheap frivolous tat - some of which, naturally, will be expensive stuff.

I think this is a great thread (dangerous though) and love to see what people have acquired - expensive or not... I don't see the problem?

Nope, it's '03. Getting it back tomorrow with hopefully close to 600bhp! (more frivolity)

Whitby, the fossil shops have little baskets outside full of them. Cheap as well few quid for a good sized bone, though when you start getting into tusks and teeth it gets a bit pricey. I have an affection for mammoths, I also have a lovely necklace from Whitby thats Jet on one side and Mammoth Ivory on the other.
I bought the kids a Spinosaurus tooth tip years ago as well, still fascinates any child that comes here that we have a little bit of a real dinosaur in the dining room cupboard.

I always have to resist the urge to buy a megalodon tooth...

Look so good but seem so expensive.

New helmet! I already have the same helmet but in fibreglass and painted black, so I guess it is a bit frivolous.

I've got the 'biohazard' glasses from the same manufacturer as the shot glasses - be aware, they are VERY delicate. I've not broken mine, but the glass is remarkably thin.

There was an entire cave bear that came up a while back. Alas I haven't the room (and if I had I'd probably fill it with a full size stormtrooper).
My friends laugh at me to be honest, 'why buy an old bit of bone or a tooth?' I'm probably strange but the thought of having this tooth in my hand, knowing how old it is, wondering what it saw, what it killed etc, just can't beat that.

one of the rooms in our house has so much dead stuff on the walls. ive found a shop on the harrow road which sells some amazing stuff, unfortunately their prices are similarly amazing.

i'm currently after a real human skull and a piece of dinosaur.

As one of those who did post a car as a Frivolous purcahse i do have to say it is a frivolous purcahse

I already had one car so i did not need a 2nd, i really did not need a 3.2ltr Jag XJ. It was a spur of the moment oh why not purcahse because after our lass saying she will buy one we had bought it and it was not mega money to buy either

And tbh the only reason we own it is because its just a nice thing to have so looks like it ticks all the frivolous purcahse boxes
