Has PHer Maff's frivolous purchase been mentioned? I wasn't aware until yesterday he was a member here as I've been following this elsewhere

A pair of these:

At £300, they were decidedly questionable.

At £40 they are rather nice.

First for me, buying audio equipment in TK Maxx.
What are they? Link please.
more than likely thats in store as they don't get stuff like that in very often in electrical section.

No electrical section on the website.

Tried getting one of my juniors to call around. Nothing in three stores he tried.

I don't buy for a minute some of the RRP's you see on st in there.

I buy bedsheets in there, as apparently the ones I get for £20 used to be £100 + etc. Utter nonsense.

I watched a programme about this and in summary you are right to be sceptical. A lot of the time they own the brands and simply make up high RRP's to give the impression of a bargain.

Yeah I've just checked their webiste too. I'm off to the USA on Monday so a decent sounding set of noise cancelling headphones would have been great at that price. It's a 16 mile round trip through busy traffic at rush hour if I want to chance my nearest store. I doubt very much that they'll have any left.

I think case in point would be some crap headphones covered in ferrari branding eh?

Not like they're Bose reduced by 90%...

Plenty of people were selling them for £300, including Harrods and Selfridges. The Ferrari store was asking £360!

Often sceptical of RRP quoted in there, but in this case it was legit.

Doesn't mean they weren't overpriced to begin with, of course.

Yeh. Hopefully underneath all that they were a decent bit of kit rather than a branding exercise I guess.

Speaking of frivolous things I don't need - we got a cleaner the other week, couple of hours a week. Best way to spend £20 I've come across since they put the prices of dances up at the Gryphon!

They are £251.50 in the Ferrari Store:
http://store.ferrari.com/gb_en/home-office/high-te...

£140 on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cavallino-Collection-T350-...

£80 on Ebay:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cavallino-Collection-T35...

Other sellers available.

Deffo worth £40. Probably worth £80. Not worth £140. £250 is havin' a larf.

They are. I'm no expert, but whatever a pair of those godawful Beats things are worth, these must be double that.

Definitely. Was hoping to buy around November but might not be until early next year now. Finding it difficult to get time off work.

Ooh I want one of those. Can you get smaller diameter tubes for camelpaks, and do they make it easier to get the liquid through? I find I suck for ages (oo-er) before I get anything in my mouth (oo-er). Would a smaller diameter pipe make it easier? It'd make the drink last longer at least.
A larger diameter would help the flow and so would a shorter length of pipe (the pressure drop in small bore pipework is huge).
After drinking blow some air back in the bag, this increases the pressure/flow and more importantly prevents freezing when high in the mountains.

I bought it from Go Outdoors for £12.

I have one for walking, and always blow back, only to stop the water in the pipe from getting hot in the sun. I don't clean it, only run some hot water through it and have never experienced horrible water etc.

Are you putting something else in it to cause it to be rank or am I just magical?

Algae can grow over a period of time, but I put it in the freezer to prevent this when I remember..
All sorts of plant life can grow if you use an isotonic drink!

That's where I'm going wrong. I use the pack for electrolyte drinks when on a long MTB or kayak run. Looks like I need a fatter pipe, bigger mouthpiece, and a cleaning kit. Not frivolous but very handy... smile

(I've got some Milton tablets for baby stuff/algae on the roof of the car, that will work ok won't it?)
