Try one of the Osprey Hydraulics packs, they have a good thick diameter pipe and mouthpiece, and have a backplate to them to stop them barrelling in your bag.

I picked some up a while ago, and they're amazing - they've revolutionized traveling (esp trans-atlantic) for me, and they're also really useful in other situations: working at home when the missus is making noise, concentrating at work in an open-plan environment, etc.

That's not a bad idea actually. I've sold my iPad 2 this week to fund an iPad Air while I'm there. £293 instead of £400 here in the UK. After some Levi's, a new watch, the iPad and a set of Bose headphones, I think I'll be eating in for two weeks on a very tight budget!

A colleague bought his iPad Air in the US about a month ago (not sure which store but not the Apple store). He then got a voucher that gave him (IIRC) $100 off anything else in the store. He fancied the look of the Bose in-ear noise cancelling headphones. They came out at £120 equivalent after the exchange rate and discount. He rates them very highly (I'm not a fan of Bose to be honest).

If you find out what store let me know! I find Bose a bit hit and miss to be honest. My mate has an old sound dock for the older generation iPod and I was very impressed with it. Great sound considering the size and price of it. Some of their other stuff I find a bit bassy. I'll try out a few before parting with cash.

I have a cheap (£30) pair of travel earphones from Creative which sound fantastic for the money. They're not the most comfortable so I bought a more expensive pair from Sennheiser. They need to be cranked up to almost max to get the same volume, they have very little bass and the sound quality is very average. With that in mind, I could do with a comfortable, noise cancelling, decent quality pair but I don't have the budget for the £300+ ones. I'd happily pay for around the £100 mark if they sound OK.

i bought a bose soundlink mini for travelling and its a cracking bit of kit. not really frivolous as i wanted one after hearing my mate's and it was a good price in airport duty free. its very small and simple to use but packs a punch with surprisingly weighty bass. what hifi review here:

We've had one of these for a year now and it's getting loads of use. the sound is amazing for it's size.

friends have thought we were using the Kef Cresta floorstanding speakers when they have heard it.

taken it on holiday and it's just nice to have quality sound while away.

Apparently it was in Target. He said, it was a case of buy any Apple product over $300 and a get a $100 Target voucher. I hope that helps. (This was a month ago)

Late '73 manufactured 144 Deluxe model. OHV pushrod B20 2.0 single carb, 4 speed manual. If you believe the figures on howmanyleft there's around 93 left on the road (or taxed at least)

Teensy bit agricultural to drive but I enjoy it, surprisingly solid underneath, a few scabs here and there but mechanically its all there. It did squirt fuel in my face the other day thanks to a severed hose and there is a slight coolant leak I'm yet to trace but apart from that..

Undecided as to whether I'll keep it long term half the fun is tidying them up..

Want. My older Bose Dock means I have to connect a cable for my iphone, as it only has the 4 connector. This looks like a perfect replacement. First world problems. This also has a 3.5mm connector, so it can reside under my tele for improved sound.

A bargin at £170 too, my dock was £350.

Sonos does far more and can be expanded massively whereas the Bose can't.

two different beasts. the bose is meant as a portable speaker, for which it is easily the best product out there. sonos is meant as an adaptable home system.
