I don't own any track to run it on.

I guess how frivolous it is, depends on if there are any sharks in your swimming pool?
My niece is heading to Aus for a year at the weekend so thought it might be useful for her.

That said, she is fairly ginger, so that's probably enough to frighten the sharks away in the first place, without needing to resort to repellent biggrin

Keep 'em coming chaps, it's my birthday next month and MrsC is pestering me for present ideas, I haven't got a clue so I'm relying on this thread to deliver an idea which I can turn into a request!

Did you not consider buying it as an aerosol?

I have just bought a kettle that heats on the hob to replace our perfectly fine electric one
i did that.

therew away the perfectly good electric one then basked in the greatness of a cool retro hob heated kettle.

then realised it takes forever to boil.

thew it away and bought another electric one.

Well, they're a little cheap and plasticy, and the 'Damascus steel' look is just a transfer which is a little naff, but at £17.99 for the set I wasn't exactly expecting much. Maybe I should have gone for the Global set at 10x that price since that's what I actually wanted. biggrin
DO it, best set of knives I have ever used, Mrs will not use any others. Even better than the Sabatier (sp?) set I had before I met the Mrs.

Still using our (gas) hob top kettle every day. Just makes you think about how much water you really need to boil for.

I confess that I have always wanted a set of Global because they just look so awesome. In fact I could happily have them on a magnetic knife bar on the wall and never use them. smile

But I don't really think I can justify the price. Although, like toxicnerve, they tempt me every time I go into CostCo. smile

I'll probably give in eventually. biggrin

Good plan, shoot someone. Put pencils up nose and pants on head.

Get free strait jacket. smile

What's the budget?

I have a houseful of tat, err purchases which I may be able to recommend at different budget levels.

She hasn't specified (and I strongly suspect she's reading this!) but based on other things which have been mentioned, and I know I've already given her some other ideas, probably £100-£150. Or any combination totalling that!

2" x 2"
From here -> http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/berthickman/m.html?_nkw=...

Partner's dad has one that he made himself and she's been obsessed by it for some years, spotted them on eBay so had to do it.. Arguably not frivolous, but it's a lovely little thing..

(Watch out for customs charges/VAT and RM's surcharges..)
