I bought a chromecast for £30 which with the help of an application on my phone (localcast) and my WD NAS app (WD MyCloud) means that I can plug the chromecast into a telly, then stream videos from my nas to the phone, and cast them to the chromecast to watch on the telly.

It works perfectly as well, I'm rather impressed! Ok, so it was £200 all said and done when you factor in the cost of a 4tb NAS but it's a gadget and I like that kind of thing biggrin

I use chromecast plus Plex on the iPad for this very same tactic... nice and easy.

Though I do have a HP micro server hidden away in another room with 8TB of storage.

The chrome cast maybe... but I did have a RPi before with a 16GB SDCard that should transfer all the movie to it, before playing via the RPi hdmi cable into the TV.

Good fun creating it, but I got bored and wanted to play with chrome cast a while before buying another Pc and hiding behind the TV so OH don't see it.

I guess how frivolous it is, depends on if there are any sharks in your swimming pool?
Why on earth would anyone want that? Do they make an antidote/opposite?

Flown it several times as it only takes about 10/15 mins to charge.

Super responsive and very stable. No clue on the range as I have only flown it indoors so far but might take it outside sometime soon when there is no/low breeze.

As for features... Erm.... Apart from being 4 channel and highly manoeuvrable and being festooned with super bright red and blue LED's... No, no features apart from being really really small.

It's only 45mm square and 24mm high to the top of the rotors. Here is a quick photo next to a 2p coin...

I might even grab an extra one tomorrow after work, maybe choose a different colour (make a great little gift)
How's everyone who bought these getting on with them?

I'm loving mine, although I have lost a black propeller already and broken a white one, so I can see me needing a spares kit soon. I'm finding it a lot of fun though, although it's quite difficult to trim and quite hard to fly - I find that it's easy for it to go zooming off course and I tend to over-correct and get the aerial equivalent of a fishtail and then crash.

I want a bigger one now! biggrin

This turned up this morning, and it was a lot bigger than expected too!

Oakley Ltd Editon Carbon Fibre Radar Lock Path Vault set with 4 lenses!

4 sets on lenses are all stamped for different road conditions,eg daily, road, grass and trail,

And a very nice case for the complete set with a cleaning set too.

The carbon frames are unbelievably light too, very impressed!

Here's th complete outfit all together!

Frivolous you ask? Oh yes, I already have 12 pairs of sunglasses! 😜😝

Yes it does look like that doesn't it!

Sadly it's just the lens cleaning fluid in the bottle, with a big foam pen applicator!

Still Oaklley do seem to have a way to make ordinary items look uber cool!

I'm not such a fan of Oakleys these days (I have a few pairs...) but you can't fault that for a complete package. It looks awesome!

The packaging and instructions and attached sticker remind you that this is not for medical use! And with a 3m flexi you have to worry that some people need to be told this...

I've resisted so far, but could anyone be tempted with a plasma speaker?

Or a Gyroscope kit?

Funny boy!

But I think you will find that's a Radar key!

And now I know they are that cheap I can see another frivolous purchase coming on! wink
