Anyone that's in any way into coffee as a taste experience should invest the modest amount required to try an Aeropress:
http://aerobie.com/products/aeropress.htm
While admittedly it's always a subjective point of taste, to my taste-buds when one is coupled with decent (and especially with freshly roasted/ground) coffee it truly makes the best home coffee I've ever tasted - better than french press, and better (gulp) than my PID-modified espresso machine can do. Also a million miles better than the standard coffee-chain fare - to approach its quality, you've got to go in search of high-end geeky coffee places that offer spectacular espresso, or are good at using pour-overs.
Holy post resurrection, etc., but I got one yesterday for my birthday, and it's jolly good ! http://aerobie.com/products/aeropress.htm

(And technically it's still a frivolous purchase on my part as it was paid for out of our joint account )

She was running out of filters anyway, and she can now leave one at the office rather than taking it to and fro each day.

Those of you with these cheap tablets how do they stack up against apples offerings? Im going to treat myself to one for lectures in the new year and was pretty set on an ipad but these look like ridiculously good value for money?
On the whole usability, this is Apple, it just works front. They probably don't.But it's 80 quid. Not 300.

Full 8.1 pc, albeit not the highest powered, in 7 inch tablet form. Fits in a jacket pocket. For 79 quid. Brilliant for when my Surface is just too bulky.

I bought mine via the NL outlet for €99, which works out at about £75, so even cheaper!
Im going to bung a few movies on mine and then leave it in my locker at work for during long breaks. Perfect.

Im seriously impressed. To be honest I wouldnt grumble too much at 2 or even 3x the price.
It ported over my desktop and apps from my laptop, set itself up very quickly etc.
It seems to fly along speed wise, is intuitive to use, looks well made, and the screen whilst no Apple Retina, is certainly more than good enough for the job.
For £75 delivered. Bloody hell!
Edit. Just bought this cover as well: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00R5Q93YG/ref=...

I have something similar but higher specification (and logically more expensive). Think of a capable Windows 8 PC in the shape of a tablet. It's difficult to compare to an ipad. The strengths are different. It's not better or worse, but for me it's more suitable and cheaper.Dan_1981 said:

ETA The price difference still isn't justifiable though.

Defiantly wont run a kettle. Might be enough to keep the fridge and TV going, but not a huge amount else. http://www.diy.com/departments/jcb-850w-2-stroke-p...
Thanks, frivolously purchased.
