As the service manager of a large factory...

fk right off!!! £195 for a 1kg tub of grease?!?!? I pay £1.93+vat for 400g of lithium complex, and occasionally splash out on £10 tubes of calcium sulphonate complex, but that's just ridiculous!

My thoughts precisely! I can't even begin to comprehend what makes that stuff cost so much and also what the cheaper alternative is.

I think buying that would win this thread outright.

Sounds a bit like Shimano grease. God only knows what's in it, but it looks like no other and is worth more than it's weight in gold!

MagicalTrevor, is that instead of the Ford? I'm confused!

I'm confused by your question!

The grease is recommended for the Formula Ford I've just bought. I'm not intending blowing £200 on grease when there's likely to be stuff that's almost as good for less.

Sorry, my mistake.

Didn't recognise the Formula Ford in that colour, or is that your old on in the pics?

We've just bought the Ashley Sutton car from Jamun Racing

It's this car:

We have different bodywork with various vinyl designs on it but the bodywork in place is lightweight bodywork compared to the original stuff

I am easy prey to old fountain pens and Parker Vacumatics in particular
I have one of these that I inherited from my late grandfather though the 'detail' has clouded on the main body of the pen. The cap and base are still fine. Do they have any value, can I get it repaired? Is it worth it?

Oh, and mines green not blue!

There is a pump mechanism inside Vacumatics which usually needs replacement after 70 years and they internals of the pen will need a good clean. As long as the nib is good then the pen will be worth a service, it will cost around £25 and the pen will be worth more than £50 when it is finished.

Good to keep as a family heirloom but there is always a ready market and strong collectors interest for these pens if you wanted to sell.

Please contact me if you need any help.

I have a feeling that they've done it just to spite the end user. Look up grease compatibility, the barium soap isn't really compatible with anything, it's toxic and it doesn't perform as well as other (much much cheaper) alternatives.

If it's easy to do so, strip away all the grease from bearings etc and refresh with a good calcium sulphonate complex with EP (extreme pressure) and AW (anti-wear) properties. I rely on it to protect million pound machines in extremely harsh environments, it'll be more than sufficient for your car!!!

I've all but run out of my bottle of the stuff - I need to buy more but I'm baulking at the prices now. For the price of replenishing my Aventus I can buy some decent power tools.

I've just accidentally bought a Black & Decker 18V Lithium battery cordless hammer drill in an Amazon Lightning deal for £48.99, despite already having a perfectly good Bosch non-hammer Lithium battery drill and a mains-powered hammer action drill.

Thing is, the Bosch is pretty useless as a drill in anything other than soft materials like wood or plaster, and the mains drill is rather heavy and unwieldy.
