illegal in the USA ... the government gave hobbyists a cup full of "freedom" and banned civilian drones

Because CAA say someone must be in direct control and with line-of-sight eyeball on the machine at all times (and PoV cam does not qualify - if flying PoV then you must have an Observer next to you).

But as I said, if nobody is policing the law then crack on at your own risk.

IANAL / TINLA etc. smile

My understanding of it is that whilst you're unlikely to get caught/arrested, if you're being a proper plum then it gives the police some teeth, and will be used punitively if anyone gets hurt...

Why do I now get the feeling that some time in the future when operating this drone, and being pulled by the G Man, I will find myself saying " These aren't the drones you are looking for!"

For sure. It *is* illegal. If it all goes pants then there is the statute of law on their side to throw the book at you.

Just showed Mrs. Kilty2 the Lily video, her response, "I want one".

Got to love a techno girl woohoo - we sail and this would be really cool, only problem is I have a big list of other 'boring' upgrades (she doesn't see) to do this year. frown

On the other hand, it won't arrive 'til next year and I can make $500 on the cc disappear scratchchin

I got to the order page and pulled the rip chord. What will I actually use it for?!

If it had longer battery or a replaceable battery i'd definitely buy one.

Who cares lol - this is the frivolous purchase thread! Establish usage and justification sometime before delivery and you'll be fine wink

Already got a Phantom 2 vision with a load of upgrades but crucially it isn't waterproof, and as coxswain of a rescue boat that matters....

I dunno about that Lily cam.

It seems too slow at tracking for action sports. The snowboarder moves off and the camera has to play catch up making for a poor shot.

Similarly the canoeing shows the camera again slow to back up and the canoeist goes out of shot (before they abrutly cut).
