Don't need them but then again, the cable on my Bose ie2s is getting a bit grubby, so that's justification in my book

Just an update, this thing is fantastic.
I'm presuming that you are measuring the distance of absolutely everything to absolutely everything, and will continue to do so until the batteries run out? kapiteinlangzaam said:

Tempted. But that's probably one step of frivolity too far for me.
If it was the laser spirit level which draws laser lines on the wall for putting up shelves straight, then I'd probably go for it.
I've already got one of those... they missed a trick by not including a measuring function IMOIf it was the laser spirit level which draws laser lines on the wall for putting up shelves straight, then I'd probably go for it.

Not bought the tap yet as I'm not really sure what you can do with it!
It's in essence a physical powerless switch which allows you direct access to up to four 'Scenes', programmable from within the app, although by default I've left Button 1 to All Lights Off, so errr 3 Scenes then. Button 4 is bedroom lights only, then Button 1 for lights out, nighty night.
Once configured it's very convenient not having to wait to faff around finding your phone/tablet, switching it on, find the app, wait for it load, then configure the lights.

What do you think of the hue? I keep being tempted...
Hue is very impressive, especially when you look into the third party apps. Philips just announced Hue Lux, a cheaper alternative to the full day hue.Not bought the tap yet as I'm not really sure what you can do with it!

One cool thing I've done with xbmc, is all lights go down when I play a film and back on when I pause or stop it!
If you chaps are busily measuring everything in sight, you should try an Infrared Thermometer with Laser Targeting, for the win-double

I've got one of those (not that particular model, but it was bought from Maplin) and they are absolutely awesome. I use it surprisingly often., including during cooking. http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/infrared-thermometer-wit...
Edit: This is the one I have, although I didn't pay the £54.99 it is currently selling for. I think I paid £39.99 on a Special offer.
