Same here - the supplied coil was really airy - every coil i've had since has been a bit tight, and feels like it needs replacing after about 3 days. I had the iClear30s before and it was fine.

That's my exact same experience of it.

Could be a faulty batch or just a few dodgy coils. I've had a couple go off after a few days. I play it a bit careful now though and keep the wattage down, bit of a pain when it happens to the last few coils in the pack and your stuck until another lot arrives frown

If you don't mind rebuilding (easy once you've done a couple...especially with these new Kuro koiler tools) then it works out miles cheaper to just get something like a clone RTA (Taifun GT v2 would be my choice as it's easy to build, adjustable airflow, great flavour and gives a lovely smooth vape) some 28gauge kanthal, cotton and build your own. Once that coils built it should last ages, just have to rewick every few days.

Think I'm going to go down to the Totally Wicked store in town and get a rebuildable tank.

They had a few down there and told me they had somewhere there, who taught you how to rebuild them.

Can't be doing with the Nautilus, if I'm going to get dud heads in every packet. The 2 out of the packet of 5 I just had, were duds.

When it's a tenner a pack that means I've just wasted £4 and like another poster said, it's bloody annoying when replacement heads are so hard to find.

Never had a dud head in any of my Nautilus packs yet. I might just have been lucky. That being said I've pretty much moved over to dripping and rebuildables full time now. Under £50 for both the RBA and the eLeaf V/V mod. This is with a 1.2ohm coil, 0.35mm Kanthal and using cellucotton rayon wick which is the best I've found so far.

I use these chaps. http://www.cloud9vaping.co.uk/

This is a write up I down for a friend as he was planning to get a rebuildable tank - this was done on a Lemo Drop, but is similar to most.

Take a length of Kanthal wire, this is 26awg and was £4 for 10m

This is a coiling tool that basically makes the coils for you, feed the wire through a hole on the side, wrap it around the centre post (2mm in this case), stick the top 'revolver' section on and spin. I paid £12 for this, but you can get similar from Fasttech for £4, or use a drill bit and hand coil

Ten revolutions later, one coil

Trap the 'tails' of the coil under the screws on the build deck of the tank

Trim them off and make sure the coil is directly over the air hole in the centre of the deck with nothing touching the build deck

Stick it on your device to check the coil resistance, most modern devices will measure resistance fairly accurately, I bought a meter for a tenner as I fancy some low ohming in the future and that needs to be accurate. I was aiming for 1.3-1.4, as you can see, it's not

Put the build deck on your device and heat the coils red hot, then squeeze together with tweezers to get the coils all touching each other and glowing from the centre out when fired. Don't press the fire button when you are squeezing the coils unless you have ceramic tweezers! Heat it up, finger off the fire button, squeeze with tweezers, and repeat until glowing from inside out

Check resistance on device, 1.3ohm clap

Wick with cotton wool, this is 'Cotton Bacon' which was a fiver; organic Japanese stuff is £2 for a years supply

Gather it up and feed the chimney base over the cotton, trim cotton to top of chimney base, tuck in against the sides/base, and wet the wick with a small amount of ejuice to aid wicking and stop the cotton burning when you first fire it

Quick fire to make sure it's working...

Screw on chimney cap, glass tank and top section, then fill tank

Enjoy your endeavours

I got some earlier. Good innit!
I was trying to describe it to a mate earlier and the best I could come up with is that it's like juicy fruit flavoured toothpaste! It's odd and isn't something I would have thought I would have liked, but I can't get enough of it!
Not a fan! It tastes like sambuca yuck

Just a couple from a non e cig user.

I am about to be away with work, using hotels and guest rooms.

I have no inclination to give up real gigs, but:

Can I use one of these in a hotel and leave no smell?

Will I get the same back of the throat feeling and will it do the job until morning?

How long do DIY coils last? Is it mostly just a case of re-wicking every week or so?

The only smell will be from the e-liquid that you are using, doesn't linger long TBH - have a shower in the morning and you won't smell it. Throat hit is the hardest part with the pen style ego starter kits - cheaper liquids are high in PG and give more of a throat hit, but are often harsh.

Yes, just re-wick every few days and dry burn the coil after removing the old wick. Apparently the coil can last for months. Handy when changing flavours too.

Spend £50 and get a decent cartomiser. Never look at a cig again.

No more hanging out of hotel room windows because the walk to the lobby is too far. (been there done that)

No smell lingers and they don't set off fire alarms either.

I re-wick once a week, or if I change e-liquid flavors. It's a 5 minute job. A custom coil should lance months, I've never had to replace one through it being broken yet. Just dry burn when changing wick.

I've boughta few things here, mainly the DDA & Mini DDA when they were on offer.
Tbh you'll get much more choice in other places. I get all my stuff from fasttech now, all my rebuildables are clones (1:1 copy's/replicas) delivery takes around a week give or take a few days. Take a look at puff palace for rta's as there usually nice & cheap.

Some juices are pretty pungent and some are ok, I'd leave a window open though as they an set a fire alarm off smile

The most pungent juice I've had was Red Lady from Kraken (also delicious!!) that stunk a 4 storey house out in under half hour!!......and my office in the basement!! The maid was not happy!!

There aren't many E-cig stores around here in Leeds. I asked the local place where I get all my liquid from and he said he didn't want to teach me, in case I did it wrong and tried to blame him for it.

Don't want to end up buying something online and then not having a clue about how to rebuild the thing. You are right though, Totally Wicked didn't have much choice but just thought it would be best to get shown how to rebuild and then I can get confident enough to experiment with other tanks.

The how-to I posted on the previous page was only the third coil I had ever made - I had watched a st load of videos on Youtube beforehand though. Try watching Rip Trippers videos on Youtube; he's an annoying , but goes in to detail of the do's and don'ts https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKD8bdRWqx7...

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT, vape in s hotel! Most hotels have optical sensors which will go off with vaping! I found this out the very hard way at my uncles wedding in November - emptied a 200+ room Best Western at 11:00pm whilst vaping in one of the corridors. The sight of my gran having been dragged out of her bed was enough for me to ensure I didn't do that again!
