Serioulsy, if you're wanting to try it properly then buy something like the pictures earlier. I started on the cigarette style first, was pleasantly surprised that the technology worked, and upgraded to the EGO-T system within the week.

I think a lot of people try the cheapies, don't think it's any good, and give up on the idea.

I also found the cheapies to be very variable in their delivery, frustratingly so. You'd get a good puff one minute and then nothing much the next. The bigger e-cigs are far more consistent in their delivery and can produce clouds of vapour to put a cigarette to shame. (All of which dissapates in a few seconds leaving nothing behind. Nothing. Could be happily smoked in a plane toilet for example)
But no proper info has been really forthcoming, lots of people saying I have Ego this and screwdriver that, liquid tank this, liquid tank that

What I (and it would appear others) am after is a good model number with a starter kit on a website if possible, I dont really want to spend ages googling and reading reviews, I am willing to give it a go but am not going to chuck £50 at something I have no idea whether I am going to get on with or not

Hence my interest in the Sky cig deal, a load of flavours and 2 batteries delivered for £11.99 and then I can upgrade in a month if I am getting on with it, I just wanted to know if it was any good? Not the usual PH bk of well its a bargain it must be st, spend more than you have ever spent on fags getting the all singing all dancing vapour injection 4x4 V8 version

Simply is this a decent starting point?

A number of my drinking mates are/were hardened smokers, out of a group of around 12 blokes, 8 smoke and now all but two of them have successfully moved to e-cigs. As a former smoker I've been amazed at how real the e-cig experience is, though I remain unconvinced that it is 100% safe, I can't see how it could be any worse than smoking cigarettes. One of the guys has now started importing and selling kits, he' so smitten with it that he's become a bit of a bore! Ifg anyone wants a link to his site let me know and I will dig it out.

I smoke rollies and only smoke approx 60 - 70 roll ups a week and have just bought both of these.
http://www.nicolitesonline.co.uk/store/starter-kit... £14.99.
Skycig.co.uk, with promo code quit38 and get a starter kit (worth £50) for £11.99. With postage £15.97
Fot the sake of giving it a go (tried everything else) it's pretty cheap.

Well said and agreed. I wouldn't want an entry level toy that'll not do the job, likewise I wouldn't want the GT3/RS, just some reasonable priced, reasonably spec'd model. Anyone?

Sorry Piersman2 for me not having the time to become an expert in the field, sounds like you need a sneaky cig.

I'd say this would be worth a go. this is the same unit I started with (and still use with upgraded cartridges.)

1x battery, 1x usb charger, 3 carts (empty or menthol) for a tenner. You'd need to get some liquid nicotine if you went for the empty carts (I'd go this route, then you can keep topping up, otherwise you'll get the burning wadding taste)

Interesting, so is this the 510 that people seem to rate? Is this likely to be a better quality than the skycig deal?

I bought the Skycig starter kit last week. I have gone from a pouch of baccy a day to one or two rollies a day.
The vapour is quite dense and provides a nice throat feel. The batteries don't last all day but you have a spare ready in the pack.
Another thing the cherry is really nice. Go for it £15.00 delivered is cheaper than two packs of fags and the carto's seem to last for ages.

I can't really comment on the Skycigs as I've not read anything about them. I know a lot of people who use the 510 in one form or another and it doeas seem to be one of the best ones to start with. Battery life is pretty good and should last you most of a day but with the USB charger, you can just top it up when not using it.

One thing I would say is if you are going to use it at gigs or anywhere 'loud', go for the manual battery version as the auto batteries work on air pressure (so they come on when you start sucking) and I found all my batteries had gone flat after about 40 mins.

So this 510 one, I can then upgrade the cartridges to a tank like other people recommend is that the case? If so it sounds like this may be the better one for me as I would not have to upgrade the whole thing again in the future and could just get the tank and liquid

You have to admit that you do look like a bit of a twonk "smoking" them. hehe
It's funny when people say "I can smoke them at my desk" yes, but you can also stick pencils up you nose but why would you!

I can't see kids trying them. Not cool.

Have they done any tests yet are they regulated and are they all still made in China?
Just wondering.

(I've used them in the past then realised I looked like a massive knob whilst puffing on one.)
To be fair, if you're that insecure in yourself that you care that much about what others think about you, then they're probably not for you.

Me, I quite like being myself, even if that maybe makes me look a bit daft sometimes. But I'm confident enough in the benefits over real cigarettes not to care about others too much.

I quite like my 'sonic screwdriver' look. smile
Sounds to me like you're the ones who's insecure. scratchchin

As a phycologist I'm sure I'd find that comment very interesting.

(I'm not a phycologist, but if I was I'd find it interesting.)

Yeah. When you start looking at other tanks, cartridges, etc. you will see most of them have "510 thread" or "510 fitting" options, it seems to be the standard. I tried a 'cheaper' starter set a few years ago and found the pre-filled carts to be very sketchy, sometimes only a few drags before they were toast. When I got the 510 it was much better and I started playing with different liquids and cartomisers.

Tanks are good as you can see exactly how much juice you have left as that is the biggest fault with cartridges, it's too easy to run them dry. I just make sure I keep putting a drip or two in throughout the day (you soon get to know how quick it uses it as you'll start to get a bad taste).

Cool cheers, I think I will go for that one over the SkyCigs one then and see how I get on

Keep us posted please. I've got a couple of sleeves of duty free to get through, then I'm possibly coming onboard.

E-cigs are something that I've been thinking of for a while now. After reading this thread this morning, a mate and I have just been to Totally Wicked in Blackburn and bought a couple of starter kits:

http://www.totallywicked-eliquid.co.uk/products/el...

Had a mess about with it on my way back and have to say I'm impressed so far. This is the kind of thing that I feel will help me get off the cigs compared to inhalator's which I've tried before. I went for the kit above with one extra pot of liquid which should last me for a few weeks.

Couldn't believe the size of the place. It used to a Citroen main dealer garage and it was packed full of customers and warehouse looked really busy packing things up too!

I will do, for reference, I smoke Roll Ups and get through about 25g of baccy a week so not sure there will be a huge cost saving but this is more for the health benefits anyway with a view to stopping completely although I am willing to spend an amount of time on the e-cigs

I am 32 have been smoking for 15 years

I am about to order the 510, am I right in thinking that if I get on with it and want to upgrade I would need the T Tank atomiser and some tanks and I would be up and running with those?

The advantage I've found with the Tornado Tank ones is that you can buy bits and pieces from different manufacturers and they all fit together - provided they are the 'tank' versions. So Now I run with the original Tornado battery, and have adapted it to take the little atomisers and cone (e-go, that you buy in packs of 5) so instead of chucking the entire cone away, you just replace the little atomiser. The end that you put in your mouth is where the little tank goes, replaced them.

Intruiged at the 'clear vision' thing posted above. Does that use the replaceable atomisers or do you need to replace the whole thing?

As regards juices, I tend to buy mine from Liberro, the 'purity' range.

P.s. Been using it for nearly 2 years now. Will never go back to 'proper' cigs.

Could anyone advise me where to look for an e-cig that has non-nictoine refills/cartridges or whatever.
