I nearly hit the buy button on exactly that last night but decided to wait and see what people's opinions are on temp control gear before buying anything. Seems hit and miss and I don't want to end up where I am now with a load of gear sitting in a box and just using 1 tank and 1 mod, rather spend a reasonable amount of cash and buy a known product
I'd hold off a bit longer. I'm starting to suss mine now but it's far from plug & play frown

Both your atty (tank/dripper/rebuildable tank) and mod have to be at room temp or it won't be accurate. So if like me you change flavours/atty's a lot that's a good half hour wait in between changes to get the temps down otherwise your just pissing in the wind!

Mod has to read/register the atty as a 'new coil' or its way off, it tires to be smart and recognise the same coil but I find it works better if it reads it as a new coil.

Atty need to be locked (ohms locked) or its jumping all over the place, not loads but enough to throw a hissy fit. Mines at 0.09ohms locked, if unlocked it jumps up say to 0.13/0.15 and this can get TC to kick in.

Ni200 coil builds need to be pretty much perfect with no hot spots & no coils touching, very difficult as the wires so soft. It's a pain because you can space the top part of the coil easy, but the bottom half then compresses and ends up touching. You need a lot of patience to get this bit right. Then wicking can be a pain as the cotton moves the coils slightly so you've got to go over it again and space them out!!!!!!!

So that's 4 things (probably more but Im still learning...and haven't stopped swearing!) that need to be prefect & correct or its pointless and hits temp limit within a second or so, really frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (this is the DNA40 btw, not sure about the other chips?)

Don't get me wrong when it works it's excellent, as in the very best vape I've had, but it's just so fiddly to get right frown

TC needs everything right to work consistently...

I know it's more dosh, but my Yihi has been rock solid running just the subtank premade ni200 coils. Between 390 and 410f, 25-35J.

Clouds and clouds of great tasting, smooth vape.

Dave, try Tubbyengineer's twisted ni200 build that I linked to a couple of pages ago, or check youtube - it's the only ni200 build I've used, as in I've built one coil ever using ni200, and it's working perfectly in my UTA 2 clone in the Railbox. Just works and is a great vape. I got tempered 28awg from Stealthvape, twisted two strands together which takes the spring out of it, built a 3mm ID touching microcoil at 0.1 and fitted it to the deck, heated as you would a kanthal coil to get it firing with no hotspots etc brush the top of the coil with a screwdriver to get it heating evenly then put your screwdriver through the coil and pull it tight - you get a lot of stretch on it and you'll then need to re-site the coil in the deck due to the stretch. Don't stretch it to much as it'll grip the screwdriver/mandrel and you won't get it out without destroying the coil. Make sure it's firing okay and wick it making sure it's not tight whatsoever, less is more.

That's what tubbyengineer says and does, works perfect - I'm getting an outstanding vape, best I've had.

The Railbox has a Chinese dna40 clone chip so operates the same as the Evolv chip - the atty lock on this consists on new coil up, same coil down and works well except 280-300f is the perfect temp for me, when it really should be higher.

I tend to leave it at 35w, it hits temp in a second or so and varies the power to hold temp, works great smile

There's a former pipesmoker on the Planet of the Vapes site, he went down the trusty Eleaf istick 30w battery & Aspire Nautilus mini tank route; paired with some good liquids he's saving a lot of money per month (he was £40pw on baccy)

However even buying from China it'll be £30, and closer to £45 in the uk - I don't think anything in the £20 range would satisfy a pipe smoker, personally. The £20 kits are okay to test to see if vaping is for you, they do work for many smokers and I started out on one, although I paid about £45 for a kit - I was off it onto something better within a fortnight as it wasn't holding me.

Thanks Steve. My drills gone walkies though frown I'll pick a cheap one up next time I'm home unless I can find some twisted ni200 wire online.

I'll leave getting anything new until the stage 5 tune & upgrade clutch is sorted £££....£ then get a better TC mod when I've got the spare cash mate. Got to get this car finished, all the bits are ready to fit. Just been having another play with the dna40, worked great again until I rewicked the 3rd time and bent the coils again (literally just touched then and they went!) I've stuck a nickel head in the sub tank nano and it's working fine so far! Better than the aspire anyway, pretty good.

Step dads got 3 of these now, not excellent (no where near as good as a istick & nautilus) but still decent enough.

He bought the first one from a UK vendor for £45ish!!! Just shows how much UK mark up is on some kit! I pointed him to FT and he bought a couple more. He's happy enough with them. Don't select Hong Kong post though at checkout as his first order took 6 weeks! I always select China or Sing post, takes around 10-12 days usually.

For tobacco juice I've found these pretty good

I'm rewicking every ten days or so, and swapping coils after two rewicks.

Tbh, I'm tempted to stop rewicking, as I always end up covered in juice after faffing about for ten minutes. I have little patience with these things!

In that instance, depending on juice I'd expect a solid two to three weeks per coil.

Well cannot say I did not try but I am convinced the istick is faulty, vendor has agreed to refund so going back tomorrow.
Tried a coil again last night after reading griffs post regarding everything had to be spot on, it was clean no touching anywhere on loops, vaped ok for a while and after a an hour as always started to deteriorate, vape getting weaker and like all other previous builds this morning hardly a reaction of a vape.
It has never detected a new build from day one, shows correct ohms but has never asked if it is new atomizer press up or down so there is a problem there also I reckon.
Yes I unlock and lock so that is not the reason, anyhow shall see what takes my fancy next.

There's Vape Emporium in Hammersmith which has pretty much everything you'd need and a huge selection of nice juices, really nice place and you can sit down & try all the juices. I can't think of anything more central. I think ukecig are in Wembley?

Hammersmith is fine. Since I've gone sub ohm I'm getting more picky about juices. Cheap online is okay - but as I said really picky now so no good. Hoping they have tanks to put onto my mods - as I can't imagine having to keep changing the fluids in my tanks.

Same here like to keep a mod with its own battery, rewicking daily is not for me especially on tanks that need emptying with a rewick.
