The SKYCIG works for me, was a steady 20 a day man (and the usual 'more whilst drinking') but since buying the SKYCIG set up (albeit at the £50 price) a couple of months ago, I've smoked maybe 5 real fags in that time.
It's roughly the same weight as a real cigarette, as is the box which holds the replacement cartridges and charges the spare e-cig.

My experience has been one of needing to smoke way less anyway, and unlike with a real fag, where once you light it, it is a waste of money not to smoke it, with the SKYCIG I can take a couple of drags, get the nicotine hit and put it back down.

They also offer differing strengths of nicotine as well.

It's got to be healthier, and it's certainly cheaper.

Go to one of the afore-posted links and you will find zero nicotine juices and empty cartidges/tanks.

Either that or buy a bottle of Propylene Glycol and mix with the flavour of your choice (on-line mixing calculators are available if you look)

It's going to be interesting over the next few weeks, do you still pile on the pounds and should i get the inner tubes fixed on the bike and cycle to work.
I'm starting to sweat already.

Have pulled the trigger on the 510 so await delivery, have noticed there is an adapter for £2.99 that will allow it to take the eGo tanks so that would be the way I will go if I stick at it

Am really excited actually been desperate to stop smoking for years

For everyone interested in proper vaping kit rather than cig-alikes.

Got to the UK Vapers forum. http://ukvapers.com/

Say, 'I'm a noob, where do I start?'

You will get all the information and help you want.

My advice? Get a couple of eGo Batteries, a USB charger, two or three Vision eGo (low resistance) Clearomisers (they are disposable, last about a week or two) a bottle of juice of your choice of flavour @ 24mg.

Bought a liberro kit a while back and almost stopped smoking competly but I found it kept running out of battery power or the carts stopped working.
I need to upgrade to a more substantial bit of kit.

Some really good reviews here....

After doing a fair bit of researching, i have gone for the Ego-t system.

At the same time, i picked up a couple of 11mg liquids, charged them up and im now using it.

However,

I am struggling to get the 'drag' right as in, its giving me a monster hit in the throat, with a small inhale, making me cough like a 400 a day man, in fact much, much worse than when smoking a roll up.

Am i doing anything wrong, or is it just adaption?

Here is a picture of one of my Visions on an 18650 battery holder. 18650 batteries last two days easy.

OK let me see I can help a bit more.

This is the kit I started with http://www.ecigwizard.com/shop/en/electronic-cigar...

The cartridges that come with it can be refilled over and over again. I still have the same ones more than a year and a half later. You need to clean them out, but it's simple.

The atomisers (the top part that you put the cartridge in to) can last a long time, but some will last a couple of months. I have one atomiser that has lasted me since day 1.

These are low resistance atomisers http://www.ecigwizard.com/shop/en/atomisers/63-lr-...

They give a stronger throat hit. A good one to have about. When I was using the 510 I would start with the atomiser that came with the kit in the mornings, and then would switch to this one in the afternoons when I needed just that little bit more of a kick. It's advisable to have at least two atomisers just on case one fails. I was caught out in the beginning when mine failed and I had to wait for another to come in the post.

These are clearomisers http://www.ecigwizard.com/shop/en/cartomisers/278-...

They can hold a lot of liquid and last for ages. I have a couple of these and once filled they can last me up to 4 days! These can also be refilled.

Now this is what I use mostly now http://www.totallywicked-eliquid.co.uk/products/el...

Though I'm gutted to see it's a lot cheaper now lol. I've had mine about 8 months and it's brilliant. I've not had to replace anything on it yet. However I don't use it constantly like some. There is a handy little tutorial video just under the item on that page biggrin

The other important addition to your kit is of course e-liquid smile

Going back to ecigwizard first: Try a few of the 10ml bottles priced about £3.99 each. There are some awesome flavour there. Each bottle can last a long while if you take it easy. Each cartridge that comes with the standard 510 kit I linked to above takes about 12 drops to fill. That would last me a full day, though other people would go through more.

It is a good idea to have a least one type of tobacco flavour e-liquid in your kit. I found this site has decent stuff and at good value http://vapourworld.co.uk/shop/catalog/browse?shop_...

Cost:

Initially I'd say for a decent set up you will pay about £50 with the kit and the liquid needed. After that I would say maybe £50 a month tops, this will include liquids and any spare parts you might need or want.

I hope that helps a bit more. smile

There are some good videos on youtube by a guy who gets sent a lot of gear by the people who make and sell e-cig gear. http://www.youtube.com/user/igetcha69/videos?view=...

Excellent will be good to have a comparison

To the knowledgeable chaps, I have ordered the 510 linked earlier, this comes with 3 Menthol Cartridges, how long would these last me? Do I need to be ordering some more ASAP? Can they be refilled?

They're 1.1ml or something. Depends on how much you use it! All the time, about 4 hours. Less often, longersmile.

You can reuse them though, just have to prize the cap off and refill. Give 'em a good wash first though (with water), as the menthol will taint other flavours for a while.

That sounds normal for a first timer smile Just take little inhales until you get used to it. Though I suspect since posting this you will have already got used to it wink

I started a similar topic about a month ago; but that was more focussed on a particular company selling e-cigs at a discounted price...

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

It's what they class as a 2-piece e-cig, in that you get 2 pieces = the battery part, and in the inhaler/ liquid combined.

Went for these as they came recommended, were the cheapest, supplied a starter pack and were the most basic for a novice such as myself.

Admittedly though, I haven't been 100% cig free. I do sometimes have a cig first thing in a morning before on my way to work, then continue with the e-cig for the rest of the day.

The bonus being is the starter pack comes with a standard USB cable which also connects to a normal plug, so I can re-charge the batteries both from my computer when at work, and wall socket when at home.

I wouldn't use it in the office; albeit legal or not - socially, I believe it should be in a dedicated room or outdoors. I do however, use them in the pubs and in town - never had an issue (and would stop if requested.)

Word of advice though; if going to e-cigs, for me at least - was a transition and not a sudden stop of normal cigs and straight onto the e-cigs.

Other folk in my office have different types of e-cigs, but I prefer mine as it's smaller, lighter, cheaper and easier to use. Plus, it's just plain white smile

Have a read through the linked topic. (and the code still works as I bought another pack for an additional charger, spare batteries and more cartridges = cheaper than buying them individually:

2x batteries = £10.90 plus 1x charger = £6, = £17
Or, 1x starter pack containing 1x charger, 2x batteries, 5x flavours and 1x portable charge = £14.99)

Sorry I didn't reply earlier, had to do some work! smile

It's all incredibly confusing when you first start googling it. And trying to get a straight answer to 'what do I need as a newb' obviously leads to eveyone jumping in with their ideas of what's best.

I started on these: 'http://www.smartsmoker.co.uk/products/Smart-Smoker-%27Storm%27-Electronic-Cigarette-in-White-with-Auto-Switch-%28510%29_209.html'.

But found the battery life a bit short and having to top up the cartomiser a bit irritating.

So I then bought this: 'http://www.liberty-flights.co.uk/product.asp?categoryid=1&id=118'.

Which uses a bigger battery that can last 24 hours and a tank that can be refilled and holds enough fluid for 12 hours. Thing is, the atomisers were variable in quality and cost a bit so when a pack of 3 were a bit crap I decided to try something different on the top of the battery. Also I found the tank would leak occasionally.

So I bought this to go on top: 'http://www.liberty-flights.co.uk/product.asp?categoryid=16&id=157'

It holds 3ml of liquid, enough to last me 24 hours. So I need only refill and change battery once a day. Another advantage of these is that you can buy atomisers to fit in the tank of varying resistance, I prefer lots of smoke so go for the 1.7 ohms, the hottest.

To help with some of the terminology:

Atomiser: the burner element, available in a variety of strenghts usually, from 1.7 ohms to 2.5 ohms. The lower the voltage the more vapour.

Cartomiser: combined atomiser and liquid tank. Just drip fluid into the top of the cartomiser.

Tank: Various versions that allow you to feed an atomiser(or cartomiser) from a reservoir of fluid.

Fluids: huge selection of flavours, available as PG or VG based. Ranging in nicotene content from 0mg to 36mg (usually). None will taste exactly like your cigarette but there are a huge selection to test and try out.

PG / PG: The base, non flavoured fluid that is used to make e-liquid. One is vegetable based the other chemical based. One is sharper on the throat, one gives more vapour. Google to check. I tend to use a 50/50 split of the two.

I'm still not entirely clear on the numbering of the battery styles myself. smile

And this is just the starter stuff. After this it moves on into variable voltage batteries, and loads of other stuff that I've got totally lost reading about. smile

So I'm currently using the EGO-T 900mah in silver, with the smoke tech DCT 3ml, with 1.7 cartomiser burning a variety of 50/50 mixed pg/vg 36mg fluids. Does that help much? smile
